$500m Abacha Loot Goes Missing; Jonathan, Okonjo-Iweala, Dasuki Fingered, ...You'll Be Shocked How It Was Shared

A $500 million loot recovered from the former military leader, Gen Sani Abacha has reportedly diverted by the administration of Former President Goodluck Jonathan, The Nation Newspaper reports.

The whereabouts of the recovered loot is one of the major tasks the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is battling to unravel.

The cash was recovered from the family of the late Head of State during ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

It was repatriated from slush accounts in foreign jurisdictions.

The foreign governments,  which released the loot to the Federal Government after hard negotiations,  demanded that the cash be used for concrete developments, including infrastructures, such as roads, water, healthcare, and education.

EFCC detectives tracking the $500million have discovered that it was diverted.

Of the $500million, about $250million was released to the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA)during the tenure of Col. Sambo Dasuki without appropriation. The balance of $250million cannot be traced yet.

It was learned according to The Nation Newspaper that detectives discovered that the $250million was illegally withdrawn barely two months to the end of Jonathan’s administration.

Investigators are said to be working on clues that part of the cash was spent on “extraneous matters, including media services, opinion polls and personal matters”.

According to a fact-sheet on the investigation, the $250million was withdrawn between March 2, 2015 and April 21, 2015.

About $36,155,000 (N13,015,800billion) of the $250million was also withdrawn in cash “without any purpose” on March 2nd, 9th, 16th and 18th of 2015.

Detectives have retrieved documents relating to the alleged “re-looting” of the Abacha loot.

In the fact-sheet, the ONSA in a memo of January 12, 2015, asked the former Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to transfer $300million .

The memo said: “Please refer to our meeting on recovered funds.  You are pleased requested to remit the sum of $300m and £5.5m to the following account being ONSA share as agreed. Account name: CBN (NSA Foreign Operation; Account number: -100367-USD-CABANK30

Bank;  Address: 28, Finsbury Circus, London. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.”

Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, in a memo to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, requested for $300m from the Abacha loot.

Only $250million was released to the ex-NSA.

The January 20, 2015 memo said: “Attached,  please find a request by the NSA for the transfer of $300m and British pounds (£5.5m) of the recovered Abacha funds to ONSA operations account. The NSA has explained that this is to enable purchase of ammunition, security and other intelligence equipment for the security agencies in order to enable them confront the ongoing Boko Haram threat.

“His request is sequel to the meeting you chaired with the committee on use of recovered funds where decision was made that recovered Abacha funds would be split 50-50 between urgent security needs to confront Boko Haram and development needs (including a portion for the Future Generations window of Sovereign Wealth Fund).

“This letter is to seek your approval to borrow these funds, for now, to disburse to the NSA. These funds form part of projected FG Independent Revenue to be appropriated.

“In light of this and for accountability, given the peculiar nature of security and intelligence transactions, we would expect the NSA to account to your Excellency for the utilisation of the funds.”

On January 29, 2015, the ex-President responded to the ex-Minister as follows: “CME/HMF, approved.”

To back his approval, Dr. Jonathan through his Senior Special Assistant  (Admin) Matt Aikhionbare,  in a memo of January 30, 2015 said: “RE: Request by NSA for transfer of funds.” I am directed to forward Ref A to you and convey to you Mr. President’s approval. Humbly submitted for your further action, Ma’am.”

Detectives have discovered that only $250million out of the $300million requested was paid to ONSA.

16/2/15

In a letter of February 16, 2015, the then Director of Funds of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. M.K. Dikwa, in a memo to the CBN Governor, conveyed the mandate to transfer the $250million.

The memo said: “. You are hereby requested to immediately effect fund transfer as below($250m) being amount disbursed to enable for the purchase of ammunition, security and other intelligence equipment for the security agencies in order to enable them fully confront the ongoing Boko Haram threat.

“As per Mr. President’s approval  on CME-HMF/FMF/2015/18 dated 20th January 2015 conveyed via State Houses letter No PRES/87/MF /-2/520 dated 30th January 2015. NSA’s letter Ref. No. NSA/362/5 dated 5th March 2015 also refers.”

A source said: “The $250million was duly approved by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan; the ex-NSA did not commit any infractions. He acted in the interest of the country.

It is incorrect for EFCC to assume that the $250million was diverted because it was used to purchase vital equipment.”

A table of how the $250million was spent was obtained by our correspondent last night.

An EFCC source, who spoke in confidence, said: “We will need to interact with the former Minister of Finance, Okonjo-Iweala, to guide us on the contents of her letter,  especially on the legality of the withdrawal of the $250million.

“We will find out  what she meant by to ‘borrow these funds’ and these ‘funds form part of projected FG Independent Revenue to be appropriated.’ She should assist investigators on whether or not the ex-NSA accounted to Jonathan for the ‘utilization of the funds.’

A former Chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, had claimed that Abacha “took over $6 billion from Nigeria”. He also said $2 billion was recovered when he was in charge of the anti-graft agency.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project(SERAP) had through its Executive Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, on 21 September 2015 sent an access to information request to the President, World Bank Group, asking him to “exercise the bank’s prerogative to release documents relating to spending of recovered assets stolen by late Gen. Sani Abacha”.

SERAP asked the World Bank President to “disclose information about the Bank’s role in the implementation of any projects funded by the recovered assets and any other on-going repatriation initiatives on Nigeria with which the bank is engaged.”

It said: “The request is pursuant to the World Bank’s Access to Information Policy (The Policy), approved by the Board on June 30 2015. SERAP notes that one of the policy’s guiding principles is to maximise access to information. There is also clear public interest in Nigerians knowing about the Bank’s supervisory role and specifically its involvement in the implementation of projects on which repatriated funds were spent.”

But Okonjo-Iweala in 2015 insisted that she had no case to answer.

She said: “Former President Jonathan set up a Committee comprising the former Minister of Justice, former NSA and the former Minister of Finance to determine how best to use both the returned  and expected funds for development.

“The NSA made a case for using the returned funds for urgent security operations since, he noted, there cannot be any development without peace and security. Based on this, a decision was taken to deploy about $322m for the military operations, while the expected $700m would be applied for development programmes as originally conceived.

“Following the discussions and based on the urgency of the NSA’s memo, Dr Okonjo-Iweala requested the President to approve the transfer of the requested amount to the NSA’s Office for the specified purposes.

“But, as captured in the memo, she insisted on three conditions: a. only a part, not the entire Abacha funds would be spent on the arms; the rest would be invested in developmental projects as originally conceived b. the money was to be treated as borrowed funds which would be paid back as soon as possible c. the NSA’s office was to account for the spending to the President who was the Commander in Chief, given the fact that the Minister of Finance is not part of the security architecture and does not participate in the Security Council.

“The attempt to link the former Minister’s name to any misuse of these funds for any purpose other than security as far as she understood it is totally false and cannot stand.”

Cabals Appointing Incompetent People In Buhari’s Government – Senator Misau

SENATOR representing Bauchi Central Senatorial district, Isah Misau, has said that all the appointments being made by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration are the handiwork of the cabals.
Misau who stated this on Thursday at the Senate plenary, pointedly told his colleagues that Mr. Buhari was not the one running the affairs of this nation.

He was speaking on the menace of alleged Fulani herdsmen and the need to reform the Nigeria Police Force, citing that the police was doing nothing to arrest the situation of killings across the country which has increased even after the chamber gave the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, an ultimatum to arrest the culprits so they could face the wrath of the law.

The senator said over fifty percent of those appointed by this government were incompetent as their portfolio were assigned to them by the cabals who determines those to be appointed.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, President Buhari is not in charge, but the cabals. They determine who and who to be appointed,” he said.

The lawmaker also said a minister was fronting the removal of the red chamber’s president, Bukola Saraki, while they went for the Christmas and New year holiday stating that their reason was that Saraki may leave the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Misau who urged Saraki to call the executive to order said it was time to jettison ethnicity, tribe, and religion to work for the betterment of the country.

Calling names, he said: “The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, was almost a nuisance.”

He also faulted the recent appointment of a Director General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA) pointing out that his appointment was the handiwork of the cabals.

HEADLINE recalls that this is not the first time a lawmaker in the senate was attacking the president insisting that he is not in charge of the government.

Last year, a senator representing Ekiti-south senatorial district, Mrs Biodun Olujimi, had made the same allegation as Misau.

Mrs. Olujimi said President Buhari had lost his authority as ‘nobody’ was in charge of the current administration.

She was reacting to the face-off which would have turned bloody between two agencies which are under the control of the president.

“Right now, we have a situation whereby nobody is in charge of anything and we cannot honestly blame anyone for what is happening. The truth is that you cannot go to the house of a security agent, a man who had kept the secrets of Nigeria for so long, and just try to arrest him like chicken.

“Mr. President, there has to be someone that we can hold responsible when two brothers are fighting. The person that is supposed to be held responsible has not done anything, is not doing his work.

“This is the first time we’ll see gross irresponsibility in government whereby there is no arbiter. No one to come in between two agencies that belong to only one person. The two agencies report to one person, the presidency and now we find them fighting on the pages of the newspapers, it’s a shame. We are calling on the President, he has to sit up, he should be up and doing. Call these people to order,” she said.

As at press time, effort to get to get the reaction of the presidency on Misau allegation proved abortive as calls placed to the president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, repeatedly rang unanswered.

A principal and teachers in a Secondary school in Nasarawa State have been suspended after they were found out to have beaten students.

According to a report by Punch Metro, the Principal of Government Science Secondary School, Nassarawa-Eggon, and three other officials have been suspended for one month for meting out corporal punishment to some students.

The state Commissioner of Education, Mr. Tijjani Ahmed, who confirmed this to Northern City News on Thursday in Lafia, said the state government had banned corporal punishments in public schools across the 13 local government areas and 18 development areas of the state.

Ahmed explained that the decision followed the beating of some students of GSS, Nassarawa-Eggon, the video of which had gone viral in the social media.

He said, “We have constituted a committee to investigate the matter and report to the ministry in the next one week to enable the ministry to take appropriate action.

“Already, three staff members of the school including the Principal have been given a one-month suspension over their involvement in the corporal punishment pending the report of the committee set up by the ministry.”

He explained that the ministry had also written to all public schools informing their managements of the ban on corporal punishment.

He further warned teachers meting out corporal punishment to students to desist “as anyone caught would face disciplinary action.”

The education commissioner stated that “even if teachers would want to punish students for any offence, it should be minor punishment.”

He added that the government would continue to respond to the challenges facing the education sector in the state.

When our correspondent visited the school, the suspended school officials were not on duty, but it was gathered that the management had decided to stop punishing students who resumed late to avoid sanctions.

Pope Francis stopped his motorcade and got out to help a police officer who fell from her horse as he passed on Thursday.
The pontiff had just finished celebrating mass in Iquique and was travelling in his motorcade when the officer's horse reared up violently as the vehicle approached and the officer who was on guard tumbled off. Francis descended from his popemobile and he stood by the woman until an ambulance arrived with a stretcher and took her away before he resumed his ride.

Kate Middleton caught in traffic on the school run
She may be married to the future King of England; but there are some unfortunate realities of modern life that even the Duchess of Cambridge can't avoid. Kate was snapped stuck in traffic at the wheel of her Range Rover in London on Friday afternoon, on her way to fetch Prince George (inset) from school.

The pregnant Duchess (pictured at the wheel, left) could have been any other busy mum as she waited patiently ahead of a number 11 bus on the Kings Road in Chelsea (shown right). Famously determined to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible given, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to send four-year-old Prince George to the relatively low-key Thomas's Battersea. The fee-paying day school is across the river and 3.6miles of busy central London roads away from the family home at Kensington Palace.

But the threat of rush hour traffic clearly hasn't put Kate off being there to meet George at the gate at the end of the day.

Kate was unable to join Prince George on his first day at school back in September, because she was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum - a severe form of morning sickness that affected her while she was expecting both George and his little sister Princess Charlotte, two.

Set up 40 years ago, the school, a short drive from Kensington Palace, describes itself as being ‘happy, dynamic and vibrant’ and priding itself on its ‘excellent academic results’.

Mkhitaryan delivers tearful farewell at United HQ before heading down to London to meet Raiola for Arsenal deal (so, can Jose now practise with Sanchez on his new PlayStation?)

Man United's Henrikh Mkhitaryan sheds tear as he leaves
Henrikh Mkhitaryan bid a tearful farewell to his Manchester United team-mates and club staff at Carrington on Friday as his swap deal with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez moved a step closer. Mkhitaryan’s switch to the Emirates has been holding up negotiations after his agent Mino Raiola warned that he could torpedo United’s hopes of signing Sanchez. Jose Mourinho claimed there was ‘nothing new’ to report at a 12.45pm press conference on Friday other than to say that Mkhitaryan had once again been left out of United’s match-day squad to face Burnley.

He arrived at training earlier in the day on Friday, but finalised his move to London later on
However, just over an hour later the Armenia international said goodbye to his teammates and other members of staff at 2pm following what is expected to be his last training session with the club.
‘It was very tearful,’ said one United source. ‘Henrikh has been a very popular figure here at United.
‘We know he isn’t too happy at the way this deal has been forced upon him. He realises he has more chance of playing at Arsenal, but he would have preferred to leave on his own terms.’
Mkhitaryan, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £26million just 18 months ago, is now expected to travel to London to meet with Raiola and conclude the deal.

It’s understood that United will pay £35m for Sanchez, including a £20m transfer fee to Arsenal and £15m to the player’s agent Fernando Felicevich.
Sanchez will earn £350,000-a-week plus an extra £100,000-a-week to make up his signing-on fee over the course of a four-and-a-half-year contract.
It remains to be seen how much Arsenal must pay for Mkhitaryan, but Raiola has been negotiating the best possible personal terms for his client who earned £140,000-a-week at United and is set to become the highest earner at his new club.
Sanchez trained with the rest of the Arsenal first-team on Friday with Arsene Wenger prepared to play his star man against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Saturday.

Veteran actress, Kudirat Odukanmi Eluyemi otherwise known as Iyabo Oko is finally back in Nigeria.

Iyabo Oko, left the shores of the country 2-years after she was diagnosed with a partial stroke. She was then flown abroad by her eldest son for treatment.

A month after, she moved back to the UK for recuperation before finally coming back to her father’s land last December 2017 in sound health.  Right now, the only change in her is that the plumb actress has slimmed down.

Report indicates that the veteran actress after spending some time in India left for London to recuperate before she returned to Nigeria at the end of December 2017.

This was exactly a month to the date that City People set aside to honour her with a Special Recognition Award, for her immense contribution to the growth of the Yoruba movie industry, at the 2016 City People Entertainment Awards held at Yard 158, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos. That was on July 24th.

At that point, we tried all we could to talk to her, but it was difficult as her last child was the person picking her calls to prevent calls getting directly to her. Months after, City People exclusively learned that Iyabo Oko was diagnosed with CDA and after spending weeks at a hospital called 68, inside the Army Barracks in Yaba area of Lagos, the actress was flown to the United Kingdom, (UK) for proper treatment.

Though we are yet to understand the meaning of CDA medically, but Oko regarded it a partial stroke, as she was barely audible when speaking at the time. However, she was not paralyzed.

That was the actress’ health condition for months before her eldest child later took her away from the UK to his base in India, where the ailment was treated. A year after, Oko granted Gbolahan Adetayo,  an exclusive interview in July 2017, where she disclosed what she had gone through all this while.

The United States Government Has Officially Shutdown - Senate Republicans Fail To Attract 60 Votes To Prevent Government Shutdown

Senate Dems block bid to fund the government for 4 weeks
Much of the federal government officially shut down early Saturday morning after Senate Democrats, showing remarkable solidarity in the face of a clear political danger, blocked consideration of a stopgap spending measure to keep the government operating.

But senators from both parties were scrambling for a new deal to reopen the government quickly, possibly just hours after the midnight deadline passed.

With just 50 senators voting in favor, Senate Republican leaders fell well short of the 60 votes necessary to proceed on the spending measure, which had passed the House on Thursday. As the clock ticked toward midnight, when funding for the government was set to expire, senators huddled on the floor of the crowded Senate chamber, searching for some way forward.

After dinner, President Donald Trump seemed resigned to presiding over the first shutdown since 2013
But even if the Senate had adopted such a bill, it would also have had to pass the House, and lawmakers simply ran out of time. The government shutdown was one year to the day after President Trump took office.

“Senate Democrats own the Schumer Shutdown,” the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said in a statement. “Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, and our country’s ability to serve all Americans.”

Democrats countered that Republicans were responsible for the management of a government in their control.

“A Republican president occupies the White House, and Republicans hold the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate,” said Representative Nita Lowey, Democrat of New York. “It is outrageous that, even with unified control of government, the majority could not chart a course toward keeping the government open, the most basic responsibility of Congress.”
President Donald Trump suggested Friday morning that a government shutdown might be coming by day's end, and prepared to blame Democrats in the Senate who are threatening to block the latest stopgap funding billThe Senate’s vote, late Friday night, came after a day of budget brinkmanship in Washington that included a last-minute negotiating session between Mr. Trump and Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader. The 90-minute meeting produced progress, both men said, but no deal. Just hours later, it appeared to collapse.

Vice President Mike Pence also weighed in on his way to Israel - blasting Senate Democrats for the congressional failure to keep the government open.

In a statement he said: 'Our administration will do everything within our power to support the brave men and women in uniform who stand on the frontlines of freedom. But as of tonight, due to a completely avoidable government shutdown, they’ll stand their post without pay.'

McConnell and Schumer each took the floor after the shutdown was finalized Friday night - with each lawmaker attempting to paint the opposition party as guilty.

'The decision by Senate Democrats to shove aside millions of Americans for the sake of irresponsible political gain was 100 percent avoidable,' McConnell said.

He claimed that the Democrats held the opposition party 'hostage''over the completely unrelated issue of illegal immigration.'

'We're gonna keep on voting. The government may be headed into a shutdown, but the Senate is not shutting down. The American people expect better from us than this.'

Schumer took the floor just after his opponent - immediately blaming McConnell for pushing through the vote when he knew he didn't have the numbers to back it up.

The seasoned Democrat explained that he met with Trump earlier in the day, saying he'd put the border wall on the table for discussion in exchange for DACA protections.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders was one of the first to use the hashtag Friday night, claiming that Democrats voted against the bill to undermine Trump's new tax law'But even that wasn't enough,' he said.

'The American people know this party is not capable of governing. This will be called the Trump shutdown, because no one deserves blame for the position we find ourselves in other than President Trump.'

But despite Trump's attempts to paint democrats as the guilty party - recent polls show Republicans and President Trump will bear most of the blame.

A national ABC News/Washington Post poll released Friday found 48 percent of people surveyed say they will blame Trump and the GOP for a shutdown, while only 28 percent will blame Democrats.

And another survey by Quinnipiac had similar results - with 32 percent saying they would blame Republicans, 21 percent blaming Trump, and 34 percent blaming Democrats.

Since the shutdown began at the start of a weekend, many of the immediate effects will be muted for most Americans. But any damage could build quickly if the closure is prolonged.

And it comes with no shortage of embarrassment for the president and political risk for both parties, as they wager that voters will punish the other at the ballot box in November.

Even before the vote, President Donald Trump was pessimistic - seeming resigned to presiding over the first shutdown since 2013.

'Not looking good for our great Military or Safety & Security on the dangerous Southern Border,' Trump tweeted, referring to the hit the Homeland Security Department would take in the event the government's wheels grind to a halt.

'Dems want a Shutdown in order to help diminish the great success of the Tax Cuts, and what they are doing for our booming economy,' the president claimed.

With the Friday's late-night voting failure, Congress will have failed to keep the lights on in Washington for just the fourth time in a quarter-century.

CONGRESS HAS SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT: NOW WHAT?

The US government shutdown began at midnight Friday as Democrats and Republicans failed to resolve a standoff over immigration and spending. Here's a look at what the parties are fighting over and what it means to shut down the government.

WHAT ARE LAWMAKERS FIGHTING ABOUT?

Since the end of the fiscal year in September, the government has been operating on temporary funding measures. The current one expired at midnight. Republicans and Democrats have not been able to agree on spending levels for the rest of the year, so another short-term measure is the most likely solution. The House has passed a four-week bill Thursday that also extends funding for a children's health insurance program.

But Democrats have been saying for weeks they want a funding measure to be tied to an immigration deal that protects the thousands of young immigrants facing deportation. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program is set to expire March 5, and members of both parties have been working on an extension that would also beef up border protection.

That deal has not come together, and Democrats have decided to dig in. They blocked the House-passed bill. Both sides were still negotiating early Saturday.

Shutdown: Police tape marks a secured area of the Capitol, Friday in Washington+14
Shutdown: Police tape marks a secured area of the Capitol, Friday in Washington

THEY'VE BLOWN THE DEADLINE. NOW WHAT?

The government begins to shut down. But not all of the government.

The air traffic control system, food inspection, Medicare, veterans' health care and many other essential government programs will run as usual. The Social Security Administration will not only send out benefits but will also continue to take applications — though replacements for lost Social Security cards could have to wait. The Postal Service, which is self-funded, will keep delivering the mail. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will continue to respond to last year's spate of disasters.

The Interior Department says national parks and other public lands will remain as accessible as possible. The stance is a change from previous shutdowns when most parks were closed and became high-profile symbols.

Spokeswoman Heather Swifts says the American public — especially veterans who come to the nation's capital — should find war memorials and open-air parks open to visitors. Swift says many national parks and wildlife refuges nationwide will also be open with limited access when possible.

The Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo will stay open through the weekend but close Monday.

DO FEDERAL WORKERS GET PAID?

While they can be kept on the job, federal workers can't get paid for days worked during a lapse in funding. In the past, however, they have been repaid retroactively even if they were ordered to stay home.

Rush hour in downtown Washington, meanwhile, becomes a breeze. Tens of thousands of federal workers are off the roads.

HOW OFTEN DID THIS HAPPEN IN THE PAST?

Way back in the day, shutdowns usually weren't that big a deal. They happened every year when Jimmy Carter was president, averaging 11 days each. During Ronald Reagan's two terms, there were six shutdowns, typically just one or two days apiece. Deals got cut. Everybody moved on.

The last one was a 16-day partial shuttering of the government in 2013, which came as tea party conservatives, cheered on by outside groups like Heritage Action, demanded that language to block implementation of President Barack Obama's health care law be added to a must-do funding bill.

WHO WILL GET THE BLAME?

In a 1995-96 political battle, President Bill Clinton bested House Speaker Newt Gingrich and his band of budget-slashing conservatives, who were determined to use a shutdown to force Clinton to sign onto a balanced budget agreement. Republicans were saddled with the blame, but most Americans suffered relatively minor inconveniences like closed parks and delays in processing passport applications. The fight bolstered Clinton's popularity and he sailed to re-election that November.

In 2013, the tea party Republicans forced the shutdown over the better judgment of GOP leaders like then-Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. Republicans tried to fund the government piecemeal — for example, by forcing through legislation to ensure military service members got paid. But a broader effort faltered, and Republicans eventually backed down and supported a round of budget talks led by Paul Ryan, R-Wis., then chairman of the House Budget Committee.

Republicans are calling the current standoff the 'Schumer Shutdown,' arguing that there's nothing in the bill that Democrats oppose, while a short-term extension would give lawmakers time to work out differences on issues like protecting young immigrants and disaster assistance. Schumer says the GOP's unwillingness to compromise has brought Congress to this point. A Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted earlier this week found 48 percent view Trump and congressional Republicans as mainly responsible for the situation while 28 percent fault Democrats. If the shutdown drags on for long, it could give voters another reason to turn away from incumbents of both parties in a mid-term election.

I Went Into Coma When Jonathan Called Me In 2015 – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said on Thursday night that he went temporarily into coma when former President Goodluck Jonathan called him to concede defeat and to congratulate him on his victory in the 2015 presidential election.

The President stated this when he hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He also recounted his experiences in the Nigerian electoral processes and his eventual victory in the 2015 presidential election.

He said: “The PVCs worked well in 2015. That was why when the former President rang me, I went temporarily into a coma. I will never forget the time. It was quartet after 5:00 p.m. and he said he called to congratulate me and that he has conceded defeat. He asked if I heard him and I said yes and I thanked him for his statesmanship.

“The truth is after being a deputy governor, a governor, Vice-president and President for six years, and he took that decision is great. He could have caused some problems. He had stayed long enough to cause problems..."

Wife of President Buhari, Aisha Buhari, yesterday shared videos of Senator Ben Murray Bruce and Senator Isah Misau, on her social media handles, criticising her husband, President Buhari's government. Both Senators during plenary, called out President Buhari for his inactions towards many national issues. Senator Misau went on to say that the cabal was in charge of the government, a point Aisha Buhari had also raised sometime last year.

Ben Bruce took to his twitter page to commend her for speaking out in her own way. See his tweet below
Looks like she's in support of what Senator Isah Misau said of her husband's government.
Senator Misau says President Buhari appears not to be in charge of his government. According to Misau, the new NIA Director-General had failed his exams twice but was appointed because he is close to the cabals.

Mother of three and wife of Nigeria's most decorated Footballer, Kanu Nwankwo, Amara Kanu has taken to Instagram to blast the heck out of Ogbonna Kanu, her husband's younger brother.

This is coming after Ogbonna posted a ticket to a game on his Instagram page. Amara is claiming the ticket belongs to her sons.

Recall that in June 2017, Ogbonna Kanu was busted on Instagram for showing off ‘Fake Life’, when he hinted that he was traveling outside the country with a photo he posted on Instagram, only for Nigerians to expose him for using old photos to ‘deceive’ his followers.

It was discovered that the flight photo he shared on his Instagram about flying to New York, was actually an old photo from 2016 when he flew with his older brother Nwankwo Kanu on Qatar Airways.
She later reposted this on her instagram

  • amchidoxYou are talking trash! Kanu built your family house in the village, trained your siblings in school, put you through school in the UK he still gives your siblings money till date but you came to Instagram to cry for 50 pounds football ticket. If you are not comfortable with the situation, talk to your husband about it he's the one who can change things by standing his ground. What you've succeeded in doing is creating discord and breeding hate now your husband will give his brother money without letting you know. You are not a wise woman, social media will not solve this problem for you, it will only complicate the issue and your brother in law will play the victim card to other members of the family. Remember Kanu owns the money not you leave the bullshit of what belongs to my husband belongs to me go and ask Ahmed Musa wife how far!?

  • iphieezechukwu@mzrosszie Her son probably “begged” for that ticket. Her son “probably” bragged in school and to his friends and neighbors that he was going to the games. Her son probably “dreamt and fantasized on how he would get to take pictures with his favorite players and autograph. Her son probably “went on for weeks to n the house” about the games at home and whenever they dined as family. Also bear in mind that her Husband is not always in the country with them. This would have afforded them a very good father and son bonding time. Now and uncle Who should be able to afford the ticket shouldn’t have done that to his nephew. If u know how excited kids can get about little things they have wanted for soooo long you would understand @amarakanufrustration as a mother when the ticket was taken away. Her husband would probably be leaving the UK and she would be left with a son she willing be consoling weeks on end. I UNDERSTAND her anger. Also bearing in mind she stated that he had tried to frustrate her but she endured but her kids??? No mother would tolerate it.

Reprieve for Olubadan as Court Nullifies Gov Ajimobi's 21 New Kings

An Oyo State High Court presided over by Justice Olajumoke Aiki on Friday declared the review of the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration and other Related Chieftaincies in Ibadan land by the Justice Akintunde Boade Review Commission, which was set up by the Oyo State Government, as unconstitutional, illegal, null, void, and of no effect.

The commission had recommended, among others, the creation of several monarchs in Ibadan which led to the installation of 21 kings by the state Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

But the Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, Rashidi Ladoja, challenged the composition and recommendations of the commission in court, joining Ajimobi as the co-defendant.

While delivering judgment, Aiki held that wearing of beaded crowns is beyond the purview of sections 10, 12 and 25 of the Oyo State Chiefs Law, stating that Section 25 of the Chiefs Law could not be treated in isolation to the provisions of Parts Two and Three of the Chiefs Laws.

The court also said provisions of Parts Two and Three of the Chiefs Laws, particularly sections 10, 12 and 25, did not give power to the governor to review the Olubadan chieftaincy declaration, while also restraining the government from accepting and implementing the reports of the commission.

Subsequently, all the new 21 Kings who derived their promotion and installation from the panel’s report would now be ceased to be kings except the judgment is upturned by another court in future.

In a swiftly reaction, Governor Abiola Ajimobi declared that the state would appeal against the judgment.

The Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, who was a former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has  praised Justice Olajumoke Aiki’s verdict declaring the installation of 21 kings in Ibadan land by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state, describing it as a victory for Ibadan land.

The judge had on Friday nullified the elevation of high chiefs and some baales in Ibadan by the state Governor Ajimobi to the status of kings. Ladoja had gone to court challenging the constitution of the Justice A tkintunde Boade chieftaincy review commission, seeking also from the court to set aside the recommendations of the commission.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Lanre Latinwo, Ladoja said it was not a personal victory for him because what triggered the suit he filed in court to challenge the government decsiion was the need to preserve the globally cherished custom and tradition of Olubadan succession system, which he described as smooth and rancor-free  system.

The statement said that the 21 Obas should desist from wearing their beaded coronets or crowns in obedience to the judgment, saying that there were provisions that forbade anyone wearing a crown or coronet without being a king. HE also said that the 21 kings should stop parading themselves as monarchs.

The statement said, “The judgment has vindicated us as purists who abhor any contamination of a rancor-free succession process that has become the envy of many cities all over the world. I do not in any way see it as a personal victory. The Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration was made in 1957 and registered with the then Western Region government. It was made by a chieftaincy committee headed by the then Olubadan, Oba I.B Akinyele.

The only High Chief who turned down the crown, Senator Rashidi Ladoja were vindicated as the court granted the prayer of Ladoja over the constitution of Judicial Panel headed by a retired judge, Justice Akintunde Boade

Like Ladoja, Olubadan had equally instituted another court case against the review.

It will be recalled that following what the State Government described as the growing concern by Ibadan elites on why a cosmopolitan city as Ibadan would be under sole kingship and need for changes in tradition and agelong cultural belief in traditional system, set up the commission on May 19, 2017 to review the declaration of Ibadan Chieftaincy law.

Shortly afterwards, the report was submitted to Governor Abiola Ajimobi in August 2017. It recommended creation of more monarchs in Ibadan land, leading to the installation of 21 kings by the governor on August 27, 2017 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

Save for Ladoja, other High Chiefs in Olubadan-in-council agreed to be elevated as Crown wearing Obas.

Meanwhile, the State Government has kicked against the court’s nullification of the exercise.

The governor bared his mind during the inauguration of a block of classrooms donated to the Community Secondary School, Ajara, in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state by a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Akinlolu Olujinmi, SAN, in Ajara, yesterday.

Ajimobi used the opportunity to restate his earlier position that the review, which culminated in the August 27, 2017 installation of 21 new obas, among whom were some erstwhile high chiefs and baales, was an altruistic gesture that was for the overall good of Ibadanland.

Ajimobi said: “Today’s judgment on the Olubadan Chieftaincy review will be appealed against immediately. Let me reiterate here that the review was an exercise that was well thought out. It is for the development and progress of Ibadanland and the people therein.

“We will not relent in our determination to make Ibadan great and the greatness shall come through various ways; one of which was the Olubadan chieftaincy review that was conducted by a judicial commission of inquiry.

“The truth is that people are normally opposed to change and radical policies that will eventually be beneficial to them, but we shall get there. We will not be deterred or allow retrogressive tendencies to override the progress Oyo State is currently making.”

The governor commended Olujinmi for giving back to his place of birth and called on others of means to emulate the gesture, which, he said, would go a long way to complement the efforts of the government in developing the education sector.

He also advised parents to play their parts in giving qualitative education to their children in order to safeguard their future.

According to him, the event was another testament to the success of the School Governing Board (SGB) policy of his administration, adding that many schools had been transformed following the intervention of the SGB members.

He said: “Today, we are celebrating another milestone in the success of the SGB policy with the commissioning of this project. Our foremost lawyer and son of the soil, Chief Akinlolu Olujimi, has bought into our policy direction aimed at restructuring our education system.

“I enjoin you all to let us continue to work hand-in-hand to further change the face of education in our state. I’m elated that we have been getting positive results from our various policies on education. I, therefore, call on other people of means to lend a hand.”

In his address, the donor said that he was happy to have contributed to the growth of education, especially in his own community, stating that he had decided to build another block of four classrooms in the same school.

He advised the students to concentrate on their studies so as to become great in the future and for them to also be in a good position to pay back to their communities.

Olujinmi said: “The SGB policy of the Governor Ajimobi administration is laudable. It has paved the way for somebody like me to contribute to the development of education in my locality and by extension in Oyo State.

“It is left for you students to reciprocate this gesture by forging ahead to attain excellence in your academic pursuits. The government has done its bit. It is your responsibility as beneficiaries of this progressive policy to aim for greatness”.

A few weeks ago, there was a viral report that Ms. Jedidiah Ogunleye ‘Love don’t care’ crooner, Simi’s mum will be getting married this January. Ms. Jedidiah Ogunleye and her estranged husband got separated in 1997 and she’s been single ever since. Simi’s mom who shared the testimony of her engagement at the church on the eve of the New Year, said: “I joined this church for over 20 years as a sinner. I will like to say a big thank you to Pastor Sam. My desire has always been to get married. Every Sunday, I’m always ushering couples to their seat and I love to see these couples ushered into the church because marriage is something I so much desire. Getting married has always been a particular goal I rewrite every year. My daughter Simi once told me that “mummy, this church you are going, it’s just young boys and youths that attend this church, you may never find a man of your age in that church.” But I trusted

Singer Simi’s mom, Ms. Jedidiah Ogunleye tied the knot with her man today at the Daystar Christian centre, where she has diligently served as the head usher for 20 years now.

Daystar church member recounts how Simi’s mum found love at 61

An eye witness and member of the church has gushed about the beautiful wedding thus:
This makes me soooo happy I want to cry. She always wanted this and would make reference to it every time she had an opportunity. She always desired to be married someday and is such a sucker for love. She would tease you and your husband if she sees you playing love in church and she always kept saying she is looking to settle down oo, if you have a fine respectable God fearing uncle.
Even back then in my 300 level class in Daystar, she was in charge of our class, and never stopped bursting our brains. Look at GOD…Happy people deserve happiness… She finally found it at 61 years of age, you needed to see the way she flaunted her ring when she got engaged.. Ladies! Don’t settle, it may not take you 61 years but however long or short… Find happiness particularly in Gods will and timing for your life Congratulations mummy. The entire Daystar family celebrates with you….God will perfect all that concerns you and yours.”
