Cee-C Almost Won Big Brother Naija And Here’s How Nigerians Reacted

Double Wahala! Big Brother Naija Housemate Cee C Gets Yet Another Strike ZUmi

Cee-C is easily one of the most talked about housemates during the just-concluded season of Big Brother Naija. Surprisingly, she ranked as the second runner-up at the finals, garnering 28% of the votes.
Although most viewers only tuned in for the drama, not everyone liked Cee-C at least on Twitter. Following the voting upset, she came really close to winning the competition.

Unfortunately for her, Miracle won the cash prize in addition to Pay Porte Arena games. In that shocking moment, she became the most talked about person on the internet.
Here are some of the tweets about her:

CeeC is going home with nothing. No one even hugged her. They still distanced themselves from her on stage. No money either. No vacation. No attachment to any brand and she has used her attitude to send a terrible message to brands that might be interested.
Cee C saw the back of all her "enemies" apparently. That's life folks. The idea that you will win because you are "good" and that someone else will lose because they are "bad" is pure fantasy.
People saying CeeC has nothing. She has name and face recognition. She has people that continously voted for her, she got to top 2. If you think there aren't people willing to endorse her in Nigeria, you are delusional. People voted for Trump
Cee C was kept in the house for the 170 Million votes (ratings) by BBN and only for the controversy by her fans. Her fans won. BBN Won.

But Cee C lost. No Prize. No Cash. No Friendships. No Brand love. Not a thing.
Be it good or bad, for better or worse, NO ONE, can deny the impact that Cee C has had on Double Wahala. A big kudos to those who stuck by her through it all, you guys are the real definition of fandom/Hive

Interviewers Are Not Allowed To Look At Jacob Zuma's New 24-yr-old Wife (photo)

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

According to reports, The interviewers that are interviewing the new 24-year old wife of ex-South Africa president "Jacob Zuma" are not allowed to look at the unclad of her, hence they have to look the other way while they interview her.

A picture of eNCA recording former president Jacob Zuma’s soon-to-be seventh wife, Nonkanyiso Conco, was uploaded to social media and drew comment because of the obvious awkwardness of it.
The cheerful young Zulu maiden, who is now 24 years old, stands confidently in the shot while the cameraman and interviewee look the other way.
One user explained that, apparently, in Zulu culture it’s “not allowed to look at mkhulu’s [big man’s] wife, hence they have to look the other way!”

However, it’s not clear when the photo was taken, and it is presumably from several years ago, since Conco no longer participates as a maiden in the Zulu Reed Dance. It’s also probably just a deceptive shot, since it looks as though both men are just briefly looking at someone talking to them from over their shoulders, making it look deceptively as though they’re avoiding looking at Conco.
Nevertheless, the image is still pretty funny.
The outfit she is wearing matches a picture of her from this 2013 article, in which she was interviewed about not wanting to allow people from other races to be part of Zulu tradition.
At the time, she and other young women accused King Goodwill Zwelithini of “giving preferential treatment to Indian and white maidens while paying scant attention to people who had been the backbone of the event since it was revived 29 years ago”.
Conco reportedly gave birth to Zuma’s baby last week at a private hospital in Durban. It was his 23rd known child.
She was for many years been a member of an organisation that advocates virginity testing and no sex before marriage. In her teens, she joined the Nomkhubulwane Culture and Youth Development Organisation, which is based in Pietermaritzburg and promotes indigenous culture and values. She is no longer a member, however, but attended the Zulu Reed Dance for many years.
She reportedly studied journalism at Varsity College Durban North in 2014 and 2015 and worked as an intern at a Zulu newspaper in Durban during these years.
According to reports, she now lives in the exclusive Hilltop Estate at the Zimbali Coastal Estate near Ballito. It’s speculated that her change in lifestyle came after meeting Zuma.
In 2013, when she was 19, she tweeted: “Don’t believe this OMG!!! Am going back to that Hollywood house, to spend the whole weekend this time! #Zuma’s home @Nkandla. Whop [sic]. Can’t Wait.”
Conco then reportedly started going to expensive clubs and dressing better. She got a car and moved into an upmarket flat.
She has already changed her name on Twitter and Facebook to Nonkanyiso Conco Zuma.

Life of Veteran Ghanaian Actor Psalm Adjeteyfio Hangs On A Thread?

Image may be NSFW.

The media, in recent times have been inundated with news of Veteran Actor Psalm Adjeteyfio reported to be suffering from “Gouty Arthritis”.
The Veteran Actor known for his captivating roles in the popular television series titled “Taxi Driver” that dominated television screens in the mid-90s has been soliciting for funds for treatment (gouty arthritis) that is currently beyond his means.
Before this write-up, I tried to watch videos and read stories posted by several media outlets on the Veteran Actor.

Interestingly, in all the interviews, Psalm Adjeteyfio was heavily questioned on how he has lived his life.(He apologetically told his not perfect story with remorse and wept at some points.)
The interviews revealed some mistakes the Veteran Actor admittedly stated were reasons his marital home was destroyed and his well-meaning life ended(He brought home a mistress).
Is there anyone out here in Ghana or the planet earth? We all have our lapses!
In all of the stories the media carried on the Veteran Actor, very few threw light on his current medical condition.
Unfortunately, we belong to a society that is partially judgmental and superstitious. I personally felt the revelation on television, radio and some online portals about his bad past could demoralize the generous(potential donors) from reaching out to him.
It was saddening, the direction most interviews took to reveal the bad past of Psalm Adjeteyfio. When the discussion could have centered on his predicament.
Especially, when one is not privy to any special arrangements on the direction of the interviews between the Actor, Interviewer and producer of the shows he appeared on.(Maybe Psalm Adjeteyfio wanted things that way.)
Borrowing the words of Annelies Marie “Anne” Frank, a German-born diarist; “No-one has ever become poor by giving.”
I believe Ghana has very successful individuals and well meaning public figures who can lend a helping hand to the once entertaining Veteran Actor who brought smiles to many with his interesting roles.
When it comes to the creative arts in Ghana, many Veteran Actors and Musicians that paid their dues with their talent for the benefit of the larger populace even when the craft wasn’t lucrative enough ended up dying like paupers. Others died out of health conditions that needed medical treatments that were beyond their means.
In recent years, MUSIGA under the watch of Bice Osei Kufuor(Obuor) created a fund to support Veteran Musicians when they retire and are out of business. However, there’s very little to be said about the Actor’s Guild of Ghana if funds of such nature really exists.
Rather, every now and then, we see stories flying in the media on Veterans of the creative arts in some pathetic health or financial condition.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any Piper to blow the whistle for the right thing(Sustainable initiative) to be done!
Unfortunately, the discussion on helping and celebrating outstanding individuals who have contributed their quota to the development of this country through various creative disciplines only becomes topical after we have lost such individuals pathetically to death.
Why do we as a people wait to glorify the dead with long tributes bearing sugar-coated words of achievements and exploits when we can actually reach out to these individuals with a gesture of kindness for them to live a little longer till their natural death comes?
For the sake of some families that have lost some well meaning individuals (who served our country Ghana with their talents) due to financial constraints, mentioning names would be unprofessional.
But the narratives of most of our fallen giants in the creative arts industry clearly states that we have not been proactive and discerning enough as a people to support and protect the lives of our legends.
We rather wait to glorify them after they have died from health conditions that money could have relieved them from.
Today, another Veteran Actor in the person of Psalm Adjeteyfio finds himself in the same situation. Are we going to sit for him to also join the afterlife?
Unlike Many individuals whose condition deteriorated beyond saving, Psalm Adjeteyfio is moving from one media house to the other telling his story to solicit for help.
Are we going to sit for us to lose another Veteran Actor or musician so we eulogize him with adjectives and a state burial?
– Let us do an honourable thing by reaching out to the financially incapable few legends of our time.
– Let us protect the lives of these Veteran musicians, Actors and outstanding Public Servants whose skills and talents have brought us the development we are building upon today.
– May we move away from a culture of glorifying the dead and showing apathy to the living. We can still glorify the living by showing them love when they need it most.
– Let us save and support Veteran Actor Psalm Adjeteyfio to receive treatment from his present health condition(Gouty Arthritis).
Before I gained maturity and sight as a young lad with passion and love for the creative arts, theatre arts dominated local television content, but times have changed today.
Over the years, locally produced television content like “Obra(Akan Drama)”, “Kantata”, “Concert Party”, “By the fire side”, “Taxi Driver” and many others projected the colourful culture of Ghanaians, today we hardly see them.
I cannot deny how I would rush in quickly from school to finish my homework and house chores in order not to miss some of these programmes.
Today, the story is different – foreign produced content have dominated the local television. (Mexican Soaps, Hindi Movies and etc.).
Due to this development, attention has arguably shifted from our local Actors to foreign ones. This development is making the local movie industry less attractive for investors.
Some locally owned agencies even create programs to fly in these foreign actors for Ghanaians to pay a fee just to watch and take pictures and autographs with foreign actors and actresses. When our own actors and actresses are dying and losing out in the business. How sad!
Veteran Actor Psalm Adjeteyfio of Taxi Driver fame is calling for help to save himself from “Gouty Arthritis” his present health condition.
I plead and entreat all who read this piece to extend a helping hand to the actor before we lose another Veteran Actor. Please go to any mainstream media house to make your donations and he will receive them.

Protesters are currently in front of the house of Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi west, demanding that security operatives leave the place.
Armed security personnel comprising policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) had laid siege to the place on Monday afternoon.
The operatives restricted movement on Sangha street, Maitama, where Melaye’s house is located. They prevented four of the lawmaker’s colleagues from seeing him.
Abiodun Olujimi from Ekiti; Philip Aduda, federal capital territory (FCT), Isa Misau from Bauchi and Atai Idoko, Kogi were among the senators who visited Melaye’s residence.
TheCable overheard one of them saying they would mobilise protesters and in less than 30 minutes, people from an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Abuja arrived.

The protesters asked the security agents to vacate Melaye’s residence immediately, describing the lawmaker as their benefactor.
Philmon Emmanuel, leader of the group, told reporters that no individual had taken care of IDPs like in Abuja Melaye.
“We heard they have arrested Senator Dino Melaye because of the truth he has been speaking. We have not seen any senator that can speak the truth like Dino,” he said.
“We have more than 36 camps in Abuja and Nasarawa. It’s only Dino Melaye that can visit the IDPs. He gives us food items, drugs and books for our children . We will not allow any bad thing to touch him.”
One of the lawyers of Melaye who identified himself as Ajayi Jaiye said he had not been able to contact his client.
He described the action of the security agencies as a gross violation of the fundamental human rights of his client.
Jaiye said the police did not have any warrant issued against Melaye to “warrant the harassment”.

World Bank: Nigerians In Diaspora Sent $22bn Home In 2017

Diaspora Nigerians wired $22 billion home in 2017, an African record and the fifth largest remittance by immigrants, according to the World Bank.

Egypt received $20 billion from its citizens abroad, according to figures published by the bank.

The World Bank said payments from immigrants back to their home countries rebounded to reach a new record in 2017 but the costs of transferring funds also increased.

The stronger-than-expected recovery in remittances — payments that are key to supporting the economies of many poor countries — was driven by growth in Europe, Russia and the United States, the World Bank said in a report.

The bank estimates that officially recorded remittances to low- and middle-income countries reached $466 billion in 2017, an increase of 8.5 percent over $429 billion in 2016. They are expected to increase by about four percent this year.

Remittance inflows improved in all regions. The top remittance recipients were India with $69 billion, followed by China ($64 billion), the Philippines ($33 billion), Mexico ($31 billion),

Nigeria and Egypt followed.

The global average cost of sending $200 was 7.1 percent in the first quarter of 2018, and sub-Saharan Africa remains the most expensive place to send money to, where the average cost is 9.4 percent.

“While remittances are growing, countries, institutions, and development agencies must continue to chip away at high costs of remitting so that families receive more of the money,” said Dilip Ratha, lead author of the report.

The bank calls on countries to take steps to simplify the process to reduce the costs, including “introducing more efficient technology”.

By region, Europe and Central Asia saw the biggest growth last year, jumping 21 percent, while Sub-Saharan Africa rose 11 percent.

East Asia and the Pacific saw the biggest inflows of $130 billion, as South Asia received $117 billion, followed by Latin America with $80 billion.

Watch Video: Mugabe Nephew’s ‘Coup’ Joke Gets Interesting Response From Uncle Bob

Mugabe’s nephew jokingly took jabs at Mugabe about the ‘coup’ and quickly spotted his uncle’s response.

A video of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe not laughing to a “coup” joke made by his nephew has been doing the rounds on social media.
In the video, 94-year-old Mugabe initially seems asleep. His nephew, Leo Mugabe, however, cracks a joke about his own axing from his position as the former chairperson of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
Leo says he only found out about the axing from journalists while on an official trip in Nigeria, adding he was “also” removed through a coup.
He adds he was surprised at journalists wanting comment about him stepping down from the position.
A roar of laughter surrounds the Mugabe family table as the people react to Leo’s anecdote.
Mugabe, however, seemed unimpressed by the joke. It is still unclear when the video was taken, but it shows family members nervously laughing at the joke while Mugabe disapproves.
Mugabe’s reign as the head of state of Zimbabwe officially ended in November last year.

Aremu is stupid for saying our father was very poor –Kunle Afolayan lailasnews 3
Nigerian filmmaker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, has rubbished the claim by one of his brothers, Aremu Afolayan, that their late famous filmmaker father, Ade Love, was a very poor man.
Speaking with Punch about two weeks ago, Aremu insisted that he came from a poor home he said;
“My father was never a rich man; he only made money but never had money. Whenever he made money, he spent it almost immediately.
“He did not have money because he did not have investments. He did not leave anything for me, but he made me work and earn a living for myself. If he had left something, maybe I would have grown better than this, but it has taught me that I would not do the same to my children. My father was only famous but he was never wealthy.”

I was born poor but I don’t know if my other brothers would say otherwise but I know that I was born poor in a makeshift wooden face-me-I-face-you house in a very poor area. Rich people never affiliated themselves with us or allowed their children to play with us…”
But Kunle, Ade Love’s most popular son, said his brother was just being stupid for labelling their father as poor.
He told Sunday Scoop, “Do you know Ade Love? Was Ade Love a poor man? That is his (Aremu’s) own opinion as everyone has a mind of their own. I would not say things were rosy, but we were never poor. If your parents were able to give you quality education and you enjoyed some luxuries that a lot of people didn’t have access to, then you cannot openly say you come from a poor home.”

“I am sure I didn’t come from a poor home. Though I cannot speak for anyone, I just think he (Aremu) is stupid. I didn’t get to see the story.
“Funnily, some people thought I was the one who granted the interview. When the General Manager of Eko Hotel told me he read my interview in PUNCH, I was surprised because I didn’t grant any interview recently. Whenever I see the man again, I will let him know it was not me he read; it is a misrepresentation.”

She Raped Me, Says Man That Impregnated His 21-Yr-Old Daughter

A 50-year-old private guard, who was arrested for having carnal knowledge of his daughter, which resulted in pregnancy, has said his daughter raped him, while also blaming his indulgence on the devil.
Preliminary investigation by policemen at Igando Division revealed that the suspect, Taiwo Oyelabi, had been sleeping with his biological daughter since November 2017. It was further revealed that he often went to work with his daughter, aged 21, where the act also took place.
Trouble started for the girl, who is a twin after her parents separated. Their aunt, who resides in Cote D’Ivoire, took custody of the children until they returned last year.
How he was arrested—Lagos CP

Explaining how the suspect was arrested, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Imohimi Edgal, who described the act as not only un-African but against the law and humanity, said: “Sometime in November 2017, the suspect took the now grown girl from his sister and brought her home to live with him in his house at Iyaba-Oba.

“Since then, the suspect had been having inappropriate sexual liaisons with his daughter and the unholy liaison between father and daughter resulted in pregnancy.
“Investigation into the case revealed that the suspect is a security guard. But the strange part is that whenever he was going to work, he went with his daughter. This strange behaviour attracted the attention of the community and they reported it to the Police.”
‘I am not the only one sleeping with her’

When approached, the suspect said: “This is not ordinary. It is the work of the devil. But my daughter is also to blame because she raped me. She started by kissing me. The first time she did it, I was sleeping.

“I woke up and beat her and told her to stop it. I even took her to a white garment church for deliverance, where I was told to bring some things with which to prepare some spiritual bath for her to stop the act.
“I even went ahead to engage her in a nylon-making factory, yet she continued.”

Asked why he always went to work with his daughter, he said: “She said she could not stay at home alone, as her twin sister is married and my second wife left me when my children came back.

“We did it five times. By the time she realised she was pregnant, she was over three months gone and there was nothing we could do about it.
“Besides, I am not the only one she has slept with. She also has a boyfriend. I believe her boyfriend is responsible for the pregnancy.”
Suicide attempt

He continued: “When I discovered she was pregnant, I tried to kill myself three times, but people stopped me. The first time, I tried to drink insecticide, but a neighbor stopped me.
“I later jumped into a well, but I was rescued alive. I wanted to take my life because this is not real. It was my landlord that reported me to the Police because I owe him,” the Osun State-born man added.
The suspect, according to the CP, will be processed to the special offences court in Ikeja.

Minister of Finance Allegedly Shared N10billion To Saraki's N'Assembly & 44 Unqualified Firms - See Full List

Image result for N10billion Adeosun Largesse: Saraki's N'Assembly Paid N5.6billion To 44 Unqualified Firms
An exclusive and investigative report has revealed how the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun allegedly shared a whopping N10billion largesse to the National Assembly led by Bukola Saraki, and other 44 unqualified firms.
Nigeria’s National Assembly led by Senate President Bukola Saraki and House Speaker Yakubu Dogara paid out N5, 638, 664, 700 to 44 unqualified contractors, PREMIUM TIMES and UDEME can authoritatively report today.
The payment was made from the controversial N10billion cash illegally passed to the federal legislature by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris,
To take possession of the N10billion cash, most of which was spent on exotic cars, the National Assembly submitted a list of 82 contractors which it claimed it was owing and the amount due to each contractor. It was based on that single document that the cash management office at the finance ministry approved the funds.
Multiple checks by PREMIUM TIMES however revealed that 44 of the companies to which the contracts were awarded and paid are not on the database of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Surprisingly, 17 of these 44 companies are not even registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) which makes them ineligible for federal jobs.
THE INFAMOUS LIST
To be eligible to handle contracts for the Nigerian government, prospective bidders are usually requested to provide evidence of registration on the database of Federal Contractors, Consultants and Service Providers by submitting Interim Registration Report or valid certificate issued by the BPP.
In fact, on December 11, 2014, the then Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, wrote to ministries, departments and agencies informing them of a presidential directive “that any Federal contractor, consultants or service provider that is not registered with the National Database of Federal Contractor, Consultants and service provider domiciled at the Bureau of Public Procurement will no longer be allow to do business with the Government.”
The circular, which was also sent to the clerk of the National Assembly, added, “This is to facilitates the maintenance of a National Database of the particulars, classification and categorization of Federal Contractors, consultants and service providers as required by the provision section 5(h) and 6(1) (f) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.”
But multiple checks by this medium between April 15 and 23, 2018, shows that of the companies the National Assembly awarded contracts to, 44 of them are not on the database of BPP, in what is a clear violation of the procurement law.
Companies not on the BPP database include: Mushin Motors, Assamad Procurement and Services Limited, Kaffe International Investment Limited, Quantita Services Nigeria Limited, Dua Creations Limited, Lachoso Engineering Systems Nigeria Limited, Navadee Integrated Nigeria Limited, Starcraft Integrated Limited, Wadatu Global Company Limited, Bimfirst Multiventures Limited, Pimpex Engineering and Construction Company Limited, Three Brothers Concept Nigeria Limited, Braimuh Nigeria Limited, Unified Marketing Limited, H and H Inter-Biz Services, Nsa-Nsa Communication and O.B. Global Intertech Limited.
Also not on the database are: A.A. Marmaro Nigeria Limited, Nwezei Merchandised Limited, Jaaniyat Inter Concept Limited, Kamawalay Global Nigeria Limited, Popona Star Nigeria Limited, Yujam Nigeria Limited, D.C. Okika Nigeria, Paki International Motors Limited, Afric Capital Nigeria Limited, Liberty Synergy and General enterprises, Pranav Contracting Nigeria Limited, Dee Ex Associate Limited, Shazamzam Construction Limited, Omatie Global, Bilmos Nigeria Limited, Clario View Nigeria Limited, Esyad Nigeria Limited, Omaiauto Limited and Profile Project Nigeria Limited
Others are; Chancellors Court Limited, M/S Atlantic Authos Limited, Bestline Nigeria Limited, Geoafriqcom Sourcing and Services Limited, DCN Nigeria Limited, Emerging Giant, GSES Nigeria Limited, Saramin International Ventures Limited.
Apart from not being on the BPP database, 17 of these companies are not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Established in 1990, the CAC regulates the formation and management of companies administering the Company Allied Matters Act, including the regulation and supervision of the formation, incorporation, management and winding up of companies.
Companies not on BPP database and not registered with the CAC are: Mushin Motors, Dua Creations, Starcraft Integrated Limited, Wadatu Global Company Limited, Pimpex Engineering and Construction Company Limited, H and H Inter-Biz Services, Nwezei Merchandised Limited, Jaaniyat Inter Concept Limited, Kamawalay Global Nigeria Limited and Bilmos Nigeria Limited
Others are; Clario View Nigeria Limited, Esyad Nigeria Limited, Omaiauto Limited, Chancellors Court Limited, M/S Atlantic Authos Limited, Geoafriqcom Sourcing and Services Limited and GSES Nigeria Limited.
A JAILABLE OFFENCE
By allowing unqualified firms to get government jobs, the leadership of the National Assembly (the Senate President, Speaker of the House, Clerk of the National Assembly and other officials) appears to have violated sections of the Public Procurement Act 2004, especially for colluding with the unqualified firms to defraud government
“Collusion shall be presumed from a set of acts from which it can be assumed that there was an understanding, implicit, formal or informal, overt or covert under which each person involved reasonably expected that the other would adopt a particular course of action which would interfere with the faithful and proper application of the provisions of this Act,” Section 9 of the Act said.
If found guilty, the officials are liable to “a cumulative punishment of : (a) a term of imprisonment of not less than five calendar years without any option of fine ; and (b) summary dismissal from government services.”
The affected companies, on conviction, will also be liable to “a cumulative penalty of : (a) debarment from all public procurements for a period not less than five calendar years ; and (b) a fine equivalent to 25 per cent of the value of the procurement in issue.”
Every director of the companies as listed on its records at the Corporate Affairs Commission shall also be liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment not less than three calendar years but not exceeding five calendar years without an option of fine, the law said.
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY KEEPS MUM
PREMIUM TIMES made attempts to get the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, to respond to our findings. But his aides said he was was not available the two times this reporter visited his office on Thursday.
He had through an adviser to Mr. Saraki, Yusuph Olaniyonu, given the reporter an appointment for an interview, which he failed to keep.
He did not also reply multiply calls and text messages sent to his telephone.
Commenting on the development, the Head of Media at the BPP, Segun Imohiesen, said all companies that wants to execute federal government projects must be on the agency’s database.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, some state governors, dignitaries within and outside the country will, on Tuesday, April 24, witness the inauguration of the new headquarters building of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Gbagada, Lagos valued at over N5 billion (about $16 million

The 30,000 capacity church project had gone on for about 13 years managed by Cappa and D’alberto and it is said to be the fourth largest completed church auditorium in the world.

Nigeria presently has a plethora of megachurch buildings under construction, all of which rank among the largest in the world. The MFM Temple with a capacity of 500,000, Faith Theatre which is 100,000, Salvation Ministries-90,000, The Great Tabernacle of The Apostolic Faith Mission-75,000 and The Lords Garden of Dunamis International Christian Centre-70,000 are all under construction and are billed to be the five largest auditoria in the world in that order when completed.

General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, in a statement, commended leaders and members of the church worldwide, whose contributions saw the completion of the project.

The construction lasted for a little over a decade.

“I just want to thank God and, at the same time, commend every member of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Nigeria and beyond, for their patience all through the years the project lasted. Their contributions in terms of finance and human resources despite the challenging times have been heart-warming and praise-worthy,” the cleric said.

The General Superintendent explained that the edifice is not a show of riches or worldly advertisement of any kind, but a project borne out of a genuine desire to give God the best.

According to him, “The project is not, in any way, an advertisement of self or riches. It is served to accelerate the earnest fulfilment of the Great Commission. There are no riches to advertise anyway because the resources came from all strata of membership of the church. Everyone contributed his or her mite. It was a determination to give God the very best.

“When you read through the scriptures, you find that tabernacles were huge edifices that evoked the aura of the Almighty. When you read about the nature of the building that King Solomon built for God, it was magnificent and befitting of worship of the Owner of the whole universe.

“We in Deeper Life Bible Church believe in preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and we hope that the new building will attract people who ordinarily may not think of coming to hear the word of God. And the Bible tells us that one soul is greater in value than all the riches of the world put together. So then, if by putting up the building, a soul is saved from the fury of hell fire, we would have achieved God’s goal.”

Kumuyi stated that the 35,000-seat edifice and the already commissioned car park, bridge and traffic lights around the auditorium were completely funded through the contributions of members of the church.

A mother has revealed that a bride and groom asked their guests to take hay fever medication before attending their wedding, in order to prevent an outbreak of sneezing during the ceremony.

Writing on a thread on Mumsnet, the wedding invitee asked for other members on the site to disclose whether they thought this was a reasonable request.

“‘Please remember to take some piriton before arriving. The pollen count will be high and the last thing I want is sneezing during the ceremony.’ Paraphrased but similar tone,” the mother wrote.

“I can’t work out if it’s unreasonable to ask your guests to medicate themselves so they don’t sniffle.”

Some people found the request preposterous, stating that they found the idea “bonkers”.

“Hahaha! God I love how loopy weddings make people,” one person wrote.

The invitee revealed further details about the invitation in the comments, stating that the bride and groom had provided an “A4’s worth of extra information” that included “bullet points.”

“What is it about weddings that turn people into control freaks?!” she wrote.

“I love her but she’s being a nutter.”

One person commented that they believe that a bride and groom warning their guests that their allergies could cause havoc during a summer wedding is fair enough, but specifically demanding that they take certain medication is taking things a step too far.

“Maybe the wording could have been less aggressive though,” they suggested.

In 2016, online wedding planner Bridebook unveiled that the most popular wedding date for 2018 as recorded at the time was Saturday August 18, during the height of summer.

According to Nasal Guard, as many as one in four individuals in the UK suffer from hay fever allergies.

With the summer wedding season fast approaching, perhaps it’s a fairly wise idea to pack some antihistamines in your bag when you attend outdoor nuptials.
