“I Told My Wife, Diezani Alison-Madueke Not To Bring Money Home” – Husband (Photos)

Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (retd.), the husband of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has revealed that she has lost her ability to speak and subsequently fell into a coma due to the complications of cancer she had.

Diezani’s
husband, Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (retd.), said this in his recently
a published book titled, ‘Riding the Storms with God on My Side’.

He said, “On
Sunday, July 26, 2015, I stepped into my bedroom soon after our brunch
to find that my phone was ringing. It was my mother-in-law, Mrs.
Beatrice Agama, who was staying with Diezani while she was undertaking
treatment. She was sobbing and only managed to inform me that my wife
was no longer talking.

“I was in London by 5.30am the following
day, Monday, and went straight to see her. Diezani was in a coma. I
called an ambulance that arrived 20 minutes later, the attendants
bearing a stretcher. They had to get a wheelchair since the lift could
not take the stretcher.

“In less than 10 minutes, we were at the
emergency intensive care unit of the Harley Street Clinic. Her doctor,
Prof. Paul Ellis, a top oncologist, was out of town and had to be
recalled.

“Three days later, when Diezani finally came out of the
coma, she saw me by her bedside and asked what I was doing in London.
She had reacted badly to her Friday chemotherapy treatment. Thank God
she pulled through that nightmarish incident and is now fully
recovered.”

The retired naval officer said, unfortunately, while his wife was severely ill, her condition became an issue of politics.

Earlier
in the book, Madueke said when Diezani accepted a ministerial
appointment in 2007, he told her not to focus on money but maintain the
the good name of the family.

Madueke, who served as military governor
of Imo and Anambra states in the 1980s, said he initially did not want
his wife to take public office having only become the first female
director of Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria and had a
great career.

The former naval officer said, “When finally she
was appointed Minister of Transportation, I took further time to advise
her on the topic of self-protection and self-preservation in the
bureaucracy.

“I finally recited the advice my father had given me
upon my appointment as military governor. “Go do your best, don’t bring
back money, but bring back my name”

“Later in that
administration, she was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources, a
position she held until the Peoples Democratic Party lost the 2015
Presidential election.”

On how his wife was appointed a minister,
Madueke said shortly before the inauguration of President Umaru
Yar’Adua in 2007, he was approached by the then Vice-President-elect,
Goodluck Jonathan.

Madueke said Jonathan pleaded with him to allow Diezani to take up a job as minister as there were very few persons of Bayelsa origin who had her impressive resumé.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his government will demolish buildings obstructing government’s Right of Way (RoW) at Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

Sanwo-Olu said this during a road assessment on Saturday in Lekki, saying that people had built structures without planning approval, thereby obstructing the government’s RoW.

Sanwo-Olu said that houses built on the RoW and obstructions on the alignment of the Lekki Regional Road were the major causes of flooding around the Lekki axis.

He said that the Lekki regional road was meant to be a relief access road for the Lekki-Epe express road.

”We have gone round and have seen that there are places where the alignments are still kept, and people still kept the planning approval of the state government.

”But a major place of concern is where people have completely bastardised the right of way, where people have built structures around the place, without approval.

”We are going to instruct the Ministry of Physical Planning to come and ask for their planning approvals. The ones that do not have, we will mark all those buildings for demolition.

”We want to also engage them because we will need to ask them what other alternatives they want to give us. What alternatives are they going to provide for government.

”If people that are meant to be civilised will come and develop on government’s right of way for the future development of roads, I think it speaks to the soul of everybody,” he said.

The governor said that building on RoW was a high level of irresponsibility by citizens and disregard for the state’s urban planning masterplan.

According to him, the government will not condone it or sit back and let people take undue advantage of the state’s planning laws.

”So let us take them to public courts, let us take them to the public domain, people need to see how reckless people can also live and they show that they are building with high walls with high gates.

”This government will not relent, we will do whatever it is for us to do, so that we can preserve the sanctity of the state, of the city and people that are law abiding must have respite,” he said.

I didn't know it was against the law to kill my two-day-old grandchild ― grandmother

The Forty-seven-year-old grandmother, Tope Akinola, who was recently arrested by the Ogun state police command for poisoning her two-day-old granddaughter in Ogun state has revealed that she didn’t know it was against the law to kill the two-day-old granddaughter. She further revealed that she did it out of poverty and not because she didn’t like the baby’s father.

In an Interview with DAUD OLATUNJI, she said she committed the crime to avoid becoming a beggar in order to feed the new mother and her baby. The grandmother tells that she’s a trader in Ogun state who sells provisions at Sagamu and her husband, Kassim Akinola, sells planks of wood. He goes to the forest to fall the trees for business. She admitted giving the two-day-old sniper which led to her death.  In her words

“When I discovered that my daughter was pregnant, I wanted it aborted but my pastor warned me not to do it so I had to wait for my daughter to deliver the baby before carrying out my plan. “I gave the baby Sniper at the hospital after my daughter gave birth to her. She was living with me before she gave birth.

My daughter’s husband and his family never showed up since she gave birth; they only came about two times while she was pregnant” Responding to the alleged reports that she killed the granddaughter out of hatred for the baby’s father, the grandmother said she never knew the baby’s father until the day of her birth.

“I never set my eyes on her (Seun’s) partner until the day she gave birth. Only her mother came to meet me and that was after he got my daughter pregnant. I gave the baby the insecticide to drink because of my financial problems. I don’t have money to take care of the baby and her mother. I was even the one that gave her money when she was going to the clinic. I gave her money twice for medical bills and since I didn’t have money to give her again, I couldn’t be going to beg on the streets”

When asked how she feels about everything that happened said everything belongs to God and no human being can run faster than their destiny and she didn’t know it was wrong until after she killed the baby. The incident according to the grandmother happened in a hospital at Sagamu and as the mother of the nursing mother, she was allowed to have access to both the baby and the mother. she said “I regret my action. I want the government to help me. It never occurred to me that it was against the law”.

You are a grandmother and
was recently arrested by the police for killing your two-day-old
granddaughter, what do you do for a living?
I’m Tope Akinola and I’m 47 years old. I live in the Ofin area of Sagamu in Ogun State and I’m a trader.
Are you educated?
Yes.  I attended primary and secondary
schools in Abeokuta and I am an indigene of Abeokuta in Ogun State. I
attended Methodist Primary School, Ikeja and Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar
School. I sell provisions at Sagamu.
How long have you been married?
I have been married for over 26 years. I got married to Kassim Akinola.
He sells planks of wood. He goes to the forest to fell the trees for business.
What is the name of your daughter that gave birth to the baby?
She is Seun Akinola. Her husband’s name is Lati.
Is it true that you killed your granddaughter?
Yes, I killed her. I gave her Sniper (an insecticide).
It was learnt that initially you had attempted to abort the pregnancy but you were stopped by your pastor. Is that also true?
When I discovered that my daughter was
pregnant, I wanted it aborted but my pastor warned me not to do it so I
had to wait for my daughter to deliver the baby before carrying out my
plan.
How did you kill the baby?
I gave the baby Sniper at the hospital
after my daughter gave birth to her. She was living with me before she
gave birth. My daughter’s husband and his family never showed up since
she gave birth; they only came about two times while she was pregnant.
It was reported that you killed the baby because of your hatred for your son-in-law. Is that the case?
I never set my eyes on her (Seun’s)
partner until the day she gave birth. Only her mother came to meet me
and that was after he got my daughter pregnant. I gave the baby the
insecticide to drink because of my financial problems. I don’t have
money to take care of the baby and her mother. I was even the one that
gave her money when she was going to the clinic. I gave her money twice
for medical bills and since I didn’t have money to give her again, I
couldn’t be going to beg on the streets.
How do you feel about your action?
Everything belongs to God and no human being can run faster than their destiny. I didn’t know it was wrong until after I did it.
We heard that you killed the baby while her mother was having her bath. Is that also true?
No!
How did your daughter react when she saw her dead baby?
I had been arrested before she saw the
baby. It happened in a hospital at Sagamu. As the mother of the nursing
mother, I was allowed to have access to both the baby and the mother. I
regret my action. I want the government to help me. It never occurred to
me that it was against the law.

Woman who once tipped scales at 420lbs reveals she's waiting to remove 20lbs of EXCESS
A woman who would struggle to breathe after walking up a flight of stairs or from tying her shoelaces is now on a waiting list to remove 20lbs of excess skin after losing more than half her body weight.

Catherine Shanklin from Oklahoma City tipped the scales at 420lbs and wore 6XL pants size at her heaviest.

She suffered from a number of health conditions, including polycystic ovaries, immune disorders, high blood pressure and diabetes. Doctors repeatedly warned that she was putting her life at risk due to her weight.

Medics urged her to have gastric bypass surgery after multiple warnings about her health, but Catherine persevered to lose 260lbs entirely naturally.

However, her weight loss transformation isn't over, because she's currently waiting for surgery to remove an estimated 20lbs of excess skin.

Catherine has had health complications, causing her to delay having the surgery while her body heals from invasive vein removal procedures.

Despite the hurdle, she admits that she can't believe how far she has come.

'It took me exactly three years to lose the weight,' she said. It still shocks me when I see pictures and I'm like, "Is that really me?"

'I am so glad I stayed the course to do it on my own and opted out of having surgery.'

Describing her relationship with food as her 'second soulmate', Catherine revealed it became the solution to however she was feeling.

She continued: 'I feel sad, I am going to eat, I am bored I am going to eat, it is an emotional connection that I had with it that literally I knew I had to break up with it. It is an addiction; I think it is just like a drug or anything else.

'Being 420lbs we would go to an amusement park and I was the one standing on the sidelines just waiting there for everybody to have fun. Riding on a plane, I was the person that had to have that extra seat belt all the time, and sometimes probably need two or three extenders.

'I was being held back from so many things and just the simple things like tying your own shoe, like being out of breath or going upstairs.'

Doctors repeatedly warned Catherine about her dangerously heavyweight but she only managed to lose small amounts before putting it back on again.

However, after one particular visit to the doctors Catherine had a breakthrough moment, where she realized she not only needed to lose weight but that she could do it.

Gracious David West introduced himself as a military officer – Hotel manager tells court

The State Prosecution has opened its case with three witnesses testifying before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, against the alleged Serial killer Gracious David West.

West was arrested on September 20 for the murder and attempted murder of young ladies in hotels in Port Harcourt.

Testifying before the court, Mr Chigboo Ebeke, Manager of a hotel located at Location Road in Oyigbo local government area, where Linda Samuel was killed, told the court that on 6th September at about 4:pm David Gracious West came to the hotel, ordered for a drink at the bar and introduced himself to the Director of the hotel as a Military Officer from 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.

Ebeke further testified that David Gracious West later booked room number 313 at the reception with a different name, Kachi Tom Jonah.
He said that while Gracious West continued drinking at the bar, he noticed Linda Samuel at the bar, beckoned on her, they got talking and at about 10 pm he took her to his room.

Ebeke said that the corpse of Linda was discovered the next day, 7th September, at noontime when the hotel Potter tried severally to clean the room and noticed that it was locked.

He added that the lady’s hands, legs were tied and her neck tied with a white handkerchief.
He told the court that the matter was immediately reported to the police, the lady’s body was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead and her corpse deposited at the mortuary, stressing that he was arrested and detained for a week at the police station.

Also, John Nyang, Manager of a hotel located at Woji Road – GRA Phase 2, where Jennifer Wokecha was murdered, testified that on the 14th August 2019, David Gracious West booked room 108, and the body of the deceased was discovered after several knocking attempts made by a staff and no response came from the occupants of the room.

According to him, the lifeless body of the lady was found on the bed, her legs, hands tied and her neck tied with a white handkerchief.

He said the matter was reported to the Police and he was detained at the Police State Criminal Investigation Department Port Harcourt after giving his statement.

Nyeche Sabinus, Manager of a hotel at D/Line Port Harcourt, where Maureen Ewuru was murdered, said that on July 30th he booked room 132, and the body of the lady was discovered on the 31st July, adding that Maureen’s lifeless body was found tied to the bed, her neck tied with white handkerchief.

He told the court that the incident was reported to the Police, the corpse deposited at mortuary after confirmation of her death by a doctor, adding that he was also detained at the police station.

The presiding Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, adjourned the case to 11th December for the continuation of cross-examination of prosecuting witnesses.

Vincent Chuku, Counsel to 1st Defendant David Gracious West told our correspondent Tina Amanda, that the Prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that his client actually committed the crime.

“The witnesses must be cross-examined, they have to further prove the fact they have stated before the court, they must be thoroughly examined to know the veracity of their statement, that is why the matter is in court”
On his part, Principal State Counsel of the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Chidi Ekeh, said the state is ready to prosecute the matter to its logical conclusion.

“Three witnesses were brought today to testify and they were all managers of the various hotels where the murder incidences took place. I have a long list of witnesses, but we don’t intend to call all.

“What the law requires is not to call a community of witness but to call relevant witnesses that can help us establish our case.

“So, if I call three or four more witnesses and I know that I have proved all elements of the offence of murder, in that instance I will end it at that point”

Randy Mother-in-law Demands Sex From Son-in-law

IT’S the kind of thing that people think only happens in movies!
But for Bulawayo man movies depict reality as his mother-in-law couldn’t control her taboo sexual urges enough to resist telling him that she wanted a taste of his bedroom skills.

Manfield Nhemachena shockingly claimed he was left disconcerted by his estranged wife’s, Tariro Nhemachena, biological mother when she stormed into his bedroom and allegedly demanded to have sex with him.

Manfield decided to share the hard-to-believe request in court, where his estranged wife was seeking a protection order against him after years of alleged emotional and physical abuse.
“On 17 November my estranged husband Manfield Nhemachena came to my house to drop off the child.

We are on separation pending divorce and according to a court order he is supposed to leave the child by the gate, but on this particular day when I sent my child-minder to collect him (her son), he refused to give her saying he wanted me to come there personally.

“As I was about to go, I was shocked when I saw him already inside the house with the child. He went straight to disconnect the Television set saying he has a right over it since our divorce has not yet been finalised.

“From the lounge he stormed into my bedroom and took my laptop which he bought for me when we were still staying together. When I tried to stop him, he violently pushed me against the wall. He grabbed me by the throat and strangled me,” recounted Tariro.

In self-defence, Tariro revealed that she also aggressively grabbed him by his shirt, causing the buttons to fall off.

“I started screaming and he rushed out of the house with the laptop and I followed him as I wanted the laptop which has personal information. Outside the house, he grabbed me by the neck and tackled me. I fell headlong to the ground and neighbours later came to my rescue after I screamed. For a moment, I blacked out and when I woke up, that is when I discovered that I had sustained injuries all over my body,” further narrated Tariro.

A scorned Manfield, however, hit back accusing his estranged wife’s mother of being a sex pest.
“She is always after fixing me by fabricating stories. She once claimed that I wanted to stab our child with a kitchen knife. As if that is not enough, she also reported me to Justice for Children claiming I had kidnapped the child.

“For the past four years she would not allow me to see the child. She and her mother were controlling me to the extent that her mother once entered my bedroom and wanted to be intimate with me. The whole family is aware of the incident and it is the one that also led me to walk out of the marriage,” claimed a livid Manfield.

With regards to the TV set, he said: “I asked her to give me one since she had two sets so that when the child comes to where I am now staying, he could also have access to TV. She refused and I forcibly took it. Turning to the issue of laptop, she lied to me that it was stolen. When I wanted to collect it that is when she screamed”.
Taririo however, refuted Manfield’s submissions before labelling him a “serial liar”.

“He is a liar. He abused me for years. He once assaulted me and I was admitted in the hospital for two-and-a-half weeks. He is such an embarrassment, on the divorce summons he even demands that the table flowers and teaspoons should be shared equally,” retaliated Tariro.

In her ruling, the presiding magistrate Adelaide Mbeure granted a reciprocal order which compels both parties to stay away from each other’s premises.

She also stopped unreasonable disposal of the matrimonial property before the parties’ divorce is finalised.

The magistrate further ordered Manfield not to physically abuse or threaten his estranged wife.

Festive revellers let their hair down on office parties as Mad Friday hits Britain on the booziest night of the year

Twas the fight before Christmas!
Festive revellers let their hair down across Britain tonight as hundreds celebrated Christmas early on the booziest night of the year.

Rowdy partygoers, many in festive attire, were pictured spilling onto the streets of cities including Cardiff and Leeds as people flocked to pubs and bars on the last Friday before Christmas.

Dubbed 'Black Eye Friday' or 'Mad Friday', the night is typically when workers go out to celebrate the start of their holidays with colleagues, safe in the knowledge that they have the entire weekend in which to recover.

But as the alcohol flowed late in the night, revellers were seen in not-so-festive bust-ups on the streets as police were forced to restrain troublemakers as they drank the night away.

U.S Government Places Nigeria On ‘Special Watch List (SWL)’ Of Countries That Tolerate Religious Persecution

Nigeria has been added to a “Special Watch List (SWL)” of countries that have engaged in or tolerated “severe violations of religious freedom" by the United States government.

The West African Country was added to the SWL following the 2018 report of the United States Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) which recommended designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

Some of the cases cited in the USCIRF 2018 report include violation of rights of Shi’a members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and violent clashes in Middle-Belt states.

The 2018 report partly reads;
“Religious freedom conditions in Nigeria trended negatively in 2018. The Nigerian government at the national and state levels continued to tolerate violence and discrimination on the basis of religion or belief, and suppressed the freedom to manifest religion or belief.

"Religious sectarian violence increased during the year, with Muslims and Christians attacked based on their religious and ethnic identity.

“The Nigerian military and government continued to violate the religious freedom and human rights of the Shi’a members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). IMN leader Sheikh Ibrahim Al Zak Zaky remained in detention.

“However, in 12 Muslim-majority northern Nigerian states, federalism has allowed the adoption of Islamic Shari’ah law in the criminal codes. The Nigerian constitution also establishes the roles of customary law and Shari’ah courts for Islamic personal law, family”.

Making announcement of Nigeria being added to the SWL, U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also disclosed that al-Nusra Front, al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula, al-Qa’ida, al-Shabab, Boko Haram, the Houthis, ISIS, ISIS-Khorasan, and the Taliban have been designated as Entities of Particular Concern.

He said;

“On December 18, 2019, the Department of State re-designated Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as Countries of Particular Concern under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 for having engaged in or tolerated “systematic, ongoing, [and] egregious violations of religious freedom.

“The Department renewed the placement of Comoros, Russia, and Uzbekistan on a Special Watch List (SWL) for governments that have engaged in or tolerated “severe violations of religious freedom,” and added Cuba, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and Sudan to this list.”

A Nigerian woman who fraudulently obtained over £114,000 from a local council in the UK, has been handed a two-year jail sentence.
The 49-year-old mother of three identified as Olusola Owoeye, rented out an apartment she bought with a fraudulent mortgage while claiming she was homeless, to get a flat given out by a local council. She was nabbed after one of her tenants she charged as much as £820 a month made a complaint at the council.

Nigerian woman jailed over ?114K benefits fraud in UK

The Nigerian woman arrived in the UK in 2002 and reportedly bought her house with a fraudulent mortgage application. She was able to buy a house in Erith, south-east London for £156,000 in June 2008 while claiming she was working in the software industry and earning £41,000 a year.

The prosecutors told the court that Owoeye moved out of the house she bought four years later, lived with a friend for some time before approaching the Bexley Council in 2013 for support, claiming to be homeless.

Nigerian woman jailed over ?114K benefits fraud in UK

Owoeye who obtained over £114,000 in five years with a status which does not allow an immigrant to access the mainstream benefits system, homelessness assistance from a local authority or social housing, is thought to be the first person in London to be convicted of fraud after receiving payments while under ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NRPF) immigration status.
Justice Jonathan Mann who presided over the case, found her guilty of three charges of fraud following a four-day trial at Woolwich Crown Court last month. She was subsequently handed a two-year jail sentence.
 Justice Mann said;
‘There is only one reason you did what you did and this is because you are greedy. For you this was money for nothing.’
While officials are now investigating the Nigerian woman's right to remain in the UK upon being released from prison, it was further gathered that she might have to sell her home to pay back Bexley Council in south-east London.

Pope Francis (pictured leading a Mass marking the World Day of Peace in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican today) confessed he had 'lost patience' with an exuberant admirer who had grabbed his hand on Saint Peter's Square, prompting a swift pair of slaps

Pope Francis has apologised for slapping a woman who had grabbed him as he greeted a crowd of devotees - shortly before he delivered a speech denouncing 'every form of violence against women.'

The image of a visibly annoyed Francis slapping his way free from the clutches of an admirer as he walked by Catholic faithful on New Year's Eve instantly went viral on social media.

A personal apology followed.

'We lose patience many times,' Francis confessed.

'It happens to me too. I apologise for the bad example given yesterday,' the head of the Catholic church said before celebrating Mass at the Vatican.

Twitter enthusiasts commented with abandon on the pontiff's prompt riposte to the woman.

The day after the incident, the Pope decried violence against women in a speech at the Vatican, saying that it is like profaning God. He contended that if we want a better world in the new year, we should treat women with dignity. He added that involving women in decision-making is key to making humanity more peaceful and united.

In his homily during Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, Francis decried 'how many times women's bodies are sacrificed on the profane altar of advertisements, of profit, of pornography.' He lamented that while women are in his words 'the sources of life,' they are continually offended, beaten, raped, forced into prostitution' or forced to have abortions.

Francis praised women as 'donors and mediators of peace,' and urged that they should become 'fully associated' with decision-making in order to make the world more united and at peace.

'A conquest for women is a conquest for the whole of humanity,' he said.

Debate about sexualization of women ensues as Twitter user exposes her boobs while wearing a sheer top (+18)
A woman shared a photo of her bare breasts which were visible beneath her sheer top and this led to an argument on Twitter.

Some who commented pointed out that by exposing her boobs on Twitter, the woman was exposing herself to being abused and sexualized by men. But others said boobs aren't meant to be sexualized because they are meant for feeding babies.

Some also said it was all about self-control. They pointed out that women walk about in skimpy bikini abroad yet their men exercise self-control and do not go about abusing them. They added that our great grandmothers moved with their breasts out in their time and it was seen as normal. But others argued that if you put yourself in a position to be abused, then you deserve some blame.

@Tar1807sha tweeted: "I will always say this: walk lackadaisically on the pedestrian crossing and you will get hit by a car. Yes the driver will be prosecuted, go to jail, serve his term and guess what? He will come back and drive again. But wena, your broken legs wont come back."

@StevenMacatsha commented: "Boobs aren't meant to be sexualised. In pre colonial African women used to show them. I think it's cool that you're breaking 'norms' of this world we're living in today. Nice boobs though..."

@Polite_Yelwa said: "Call me whatever but this is perverted. If men were to free any of their body parts that are sexually lucrative to the other gender it would be a huge offence. But when its this gender it's freedom of expression. Men continue to be oppressed as women seek to be liberated."
