Today, Biafran agitators allegedly killed two police officers in a clash and threw 2 other injured policemen into the River Niger at Asaba, Delta State, while celebrating the anniversary of their agitation. 4 members of Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) were also killed.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in Delta, SP Charles Muka, who confirmed this in a statement, said the protesters turned violent and attacked the policemen deployed to monitor the protest.

His words: “We had to deploy our officers to ensure that the protest was peaceful but we were surprised that the people turned violent. To our surprise, they started attacking our men. The group killed a police corporal and took his AK47 riffle. They also wounded a police officer and took his anti-riot gun.
This group also attacked and wounded two policemen, suspected to be marine police, and threw them into the River Niger and in the process one died and one was rescued. The protesters also attacked military vehicles which left four of the protesters dead and eight others arrested.
A pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet but now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba. Parents and guardians are advised to warn their children and wards to toe peaceful path and pursue whatever agenda constitutionally.
The Command also wants to state that the security agencies will not fold their arms and watch a few persons take laws into their hands and cause mayhem in pursuit of whatever agenda.”
‎In a swift reaction, the Delta North Zonal Leader of BIM-MASSOB, Chinedu Anieifeobu, dissociated BIM-MASSOB from the alleged killings and wondered why some agitators under the IPOB became violent and condemned the dangerous twist the agitation had assumed.

Niger Delta Avengers Unveils Own Currency Note, Dumps Biafra As Nigeria's Unity On The Verge.

The Nigeria unity as a nation has more again threatened as Niger Delta secessionist shunned the much clamoured BIAFRA, which they were to be part of, to unveil own different currency in vowing to break away from Nigeria,Current News Now reports

The separatists' feelings and aspirations which resulted in the ongoing bombing of oil and gas facilities in the region have eventually found expression in unveiling its ‘national’ currency. Militants have been carry out attacks on oil and gas facilities of multinational oil corporations in the region the very latest being Chevron facility at its Escravos terminal on Thursday.

Niger Delta Avengers which have claimed responsibility for the attacks have vowed to stop at nothing until a sovereign state of the Niger Delta is actualized.

According to report, much has been done to the region’s ecosystem resulting from the operations of oil companies in the region and that every hue and cry raised so far to draw the government’s attention to their predicament has fallen on deaf ears, a source who spoke to our source on condition of anonymity said

Hence, the action to secede from Nigeria become absolutely necessary to save communities in the neglected region from gradual extinction , the report further said

On the said unveiled currency note with one Pound United Kingdom symbol was inscribed, Bank of Niger Delta, The Republic of Niger Delta.

Will they achieve this? Time will tell

The threat which was contained in a statement signed by one Col Mudoch Agbinibo, who claims to be the group’s spokesperson, listed, among others, General T.Y Danjuma, Alhaji Maidiribe, Colonel Sanni Bello, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, Prince Ado Bayero, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as those who would have their oil interests blown up if they do not quit.

In a veiled threat to declare a country of their own, the group said that it would, by October 16, display a currency, flag, passport, the ruling council and territory to the world. It beckoned on the United Nations “to free the people of the Niger Delta from environmental pollution, slavery, and oppression.”

“We want a country that will turn the creeks of the Niger delta to a tourism heaven, a country that will achieve its full potentials, a country that will make health care system accessible by everyone. With Niger delta still under the country Nigeria we can’t make it possible,” the group said.

It denied threatening the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, while claiming that the group’s activities had put 50% of Nigeria’s oil resources at risk.

Over the weekend, Mercy Johnson and her family dedicated their daughter Angel Onosetale Okojie in church, six months after the child’s birth, and now the proud mum has taken to social media to share the new family photos.
“It was an awesome holiday as we dedicated Angel to the Lord,” Johnson said in one photo, and in another, she added, “To you be all the glory, father.”

The actress who had Angel, her third child in Baltimore, Maryland, addressed critics who attacked her not practising child spacing weeks ago.
“I understand the ethics of spacing kids but I’m a married person and an adult, I can decide the way I want to live my life,” she told Goldmyne. “Save some of the hate speeches because the fourth will soon come to round it up then you can show your anger but for now it’s good news let’s celebrate.”
The couple have been waxing stronger and Johnson never fails to regale her fans with pic-stories of her family’s fun times, and how united they are.

Vide0; Members Accuse Nigerian Pastor of Looting London Church Treasury and Using ‘Dubious’ Means to Hoodwink Them

A new video just surfaced online showing Nigerians in London who are protesting the continued stay of their church pastor.
According to Goldmyne TV who first shared the video, the unnamed pastor was accused of mismanaging church funds and using ‘dubious’ means to prevent his sack.
From the clip, the day’s service is in complete disarray as members walked up to the pastor, telling him to his face that “we don’t want you anymore.”

It is unclear how much exactly the minister is accused of taking without permission, or if the case has been escalated to the state authorities. However, it also brings to mind the many cases of Nigerian pastors accused of looting their church treasury and getting the authorities involved, like it was in the case of popular pastor, Matthew Ashimolowo.

See Photos Of The Parents Whose Son Fell Into US Zoo Enclosure Sparking Shooting Of Harambe The Gorilla - As It Emerges Father Has Lengthy Criminal History

Parents-of-four whose son fell into zoo enclosure sparking killing of Harambe the gorilla
These are the parents of the four-year-old boy whose fall into the gorilla exhibit moat in Cincinnati Zoo resulted in the death of 17-year-old silverback gorilla, Harambe. Seen here for the first time Michelle Gregg, 32, has four children by Deonne Dickerson, 36, a man who, Daily Mail Online can disclose, has a lengthy criminal history, pictured center. Criminal filings against Dickerson stretch over a decade and include burglary, firearms offenses, drug trafficking, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and kidnap. In 2006 he was sentenced to one year behind bars for a drug trafficking conviction. Protestors have called for the pair to be investigated in the wake of the shooting and Harambe fans have paid tribute at the zoo, right.

A special zoo response team shot and killed a 17-year-old gorilla named Harambe to protect a four-year-old who fell in the enclosure. But new video footage shows the two briefly holding hands (pictured)

In 2006 he was sentenced to one year behind bars for a drug trafficking conviction.
But in numerous pictures posted on Dickerson's Facebook site in recent years he appears to have turned his life around to become the proud father of four.
Indeed, the majority of his postings to the social media site are updates of his children and his working life.
In others pictures he has uploaded his friends congratulate him and Michelle on the birth of their fourth child last January.

Cleveland based Dickerson is from Atlanta, Georgia and studied at Cuyahoga Community College, Ohio and now works as a sorter at a Cincinnati industrial equipment supplier.
Gregg is currently the administrator at a Cincinnati pre-school.
She has been the subject of sharp criticism following the incident that saw zoo staff shoot dead Harambe who, according to new video footage, may have been protecting rather than threatening the child after he crawled through a barrier and fell into the gorilla's enclosure.
Many social media commenters have criticized her and Dickerson and said they should be held accountable.
A Cincinnati police spokesman said no charges were being considered. A spokeswoman for the family said on Monday they had no plans to comment.
'I do think there's a degree of responsibility they have to be held to,' said Kate Villanueva, a mother of two children from Erlanger, Kentucky, who started the 'Justice for Harambe' page and attended a vigil on Monday at Cincinnati Zoo for Harambe.
'You have to be watching your children at all times.'
More outraged animal lovers took to social media declaring the western lowland gorilla's life was unnecessarily taken, and more than 4,000 have already joined 'Justice for Harambe'.
Ian Redmond, the chairman of the Gorilla Organization, told CNN : 'When gorilla or other apes have things they shouldn't have, keepers will negotiate with them, bring food, their favorite treats, pineapple or some kind of fruit that they don't know and negotiate with them.'
Primatologist Julia Gallucci said: 'The gorilla enclosure should have been surrounded by a secondary barrier between the humans and the animals to prevent exactly this type of incident.'

The boy's mother wrote a Facebook post saying her son suffered a concussion and a few scrapes. She defended her role as a parent and called the incident an accident

Another user Chris Dasauchoit tweeted: 'Beautiful animals sadly paying for utter human stupidity and negligence with their lives. #Harame #CincinnatiZoo.'
Earlier on Sunday, police said prosecutors could choose to indict the parents, but Cincinnati Police Lieutenant Stephen Saunders later said he was not aware of any intention to do so.
Soon after the incident, Michelle Gregg, the mother of the boy, posted a message on Facebook saying: 'I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers today. What started off as a wonderful day turned into a scary one.
'For those of you that have seen the news or been on social media that was my son that fell in the gorilla exhibit at the zoo. God protected my child until the authorities were able to get to him.
'My son is safe and was able to walk away with a concussion and a few scrapes... no broken bones or internal injuries.
'As a society we are quick to judge how a parent could take their eyes off of their child and if anyone knows me I keep a tight watch on my kids. Accidents happen but I am thankful that the right people were in the right place today.'
The family also released a statement on Sunday saying they had taken their boy home from the hospital.
It read: 'We are so thankful to the Lord that our child is safe. He is home and doing just fine. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the quick action by the Cincinnati Zoo staff.
'We know that this was a very difficult decision for them, and that they are grieving the loss of their gorilla. We hope that you will respect our privacy at this time.'

An Indian toddler has developed sexual urges and pubic hair as a result of a rare condition.

Testosterone in the Delhi-born one-year-old, dubbed Akash to protect his identity, has rocketed to the level of a 25-year-old.

And symptoms of his rare condition , called “precocious puberty” have resulted in him growing facial and body hair as well as sexual urges .

His mum, whose name has also not been revealed, said Akash had started growing abnormally from about six-months-old .

She said: “We thought he was just a big baby but later everyone started to point out that that this growth couldn’t be normal.

“His penis had grown to that of a man’s size and we knew something was wrong.”

The boy’s doctor Vaishakhi Rustagi said: “Usually this disorder is caused due to brain or stomach tumour, but we didn’t find anything as such in blood reports.

“The child was lucky in a way because tumour usually increases complications and leads to cancer.”

The paediatrician, of Max Super Speciality Hospital, said he saw similar cases 'once every 10 years' and added: “Precocious puberty is traumatic for a child of his age and it makes them violent.

“His muscle strength increased to a level that even his parents couldn’t control him.

“If such children are not treated, they will become violent. The physical changes will not be suitable for their age.

"They will also stop growing after a few years and remain about 3-4ft tall.”

Akash was put on hormone therapy after his parents went to see a doctor when he was 18 months old and his voice had started to break.

His hormonal developments and genital size decreased after five months.

He is now given a monthly dose which blocks the effects of hormones.

The treatment will continue until he is mentally stable enough to grasp the changes in his body.

It is unclear whether the angry hubby discovered the 'tryst' taking place in the marital bed or in a car, but he appears to of dragged his accused love rival into the street.

The video shows the man without any clothes on cowering in the road as the husband kicks and punches him.

A crowd of onlookers watch the altercation in China, taking place without intervening.

The husband, himself stripped to the waste, rains down blows on the accused man as he desperately tries to cup his private parts.

The man stays on the floor, apparently unable to escape throughout the confrontation, whimpering with pain as he is hit.

He appears to plead with his attacker who ends up holding him by the hair and shouting in his face.

The Unlikely Sanitary Pad Missionary: The Invention That Stops Girls Missing School Every Month

$

Trinitas holding a Chitenge strip
Trinitas holding a chitenge strip

In Malawi a packet of sanitary towels can cost a whole day's pay, and girls often miss school because the cotton strips they use instead are inadequate. Charlotte Ashton met a woman in Blantyre who's come up with a solution.
It's a 14-year-old girl's worst nightmare. You're standing in front of your class when giggling erupts from the back and everyone's pointing at your behind. With despair you realise your sanitary pad has leaked and an embarrassing circle of blood has appeared on your dress. I clearly remember the anxious checking of my school skirt as a teenager. You'd pull aside a close friend: "Have I leaked?"
But the worst never actually happened and I don't remember seeing it happen to any classmates. Because in the West we're blessed with effective, disposable, affordable sanitary protection - the vast majority of us can afford pads or tampons every month.
Here in Malawi, that's not the case. The sanitary pads in the shops cost 500 Malawi kwacha (75 cents; 50p) per pack. That's nearly a whole day's pay at the minimum wage - and you really need two packs per period.

Imagine spending two days' wages every month just on sanitary pads.
To find out what women do instead, I head to a school in a township on the outskirts of Blantyre, Malawi's second city, to talk periods with a group of teenage girls.
Classroom in Blantyre
"Tell me," I venture. "We're here to talk about sanitary pads. Do any of you use the disposable ones?"
A row of shaking heads then a brave hand goes up.
"We take pieces of old chitenge and tear them into strips." Benku is 15 and bright-eyed. Chitenges the pieces of cotton material Malawian women wear around their waists. "Then we fold them over and put them into our underwear."
"That must be uncomfortable," I ask.
"Yes," she agrees. "Sometimes I get sores on my legs where the material rubs. And sometimes the chitenge falls out!
"That happened to me once in class. The boys were laughing. I was so embarrassed."
Trinitas and schoolgirls

The monthly burden doesn't end there. The girls explain how they get up early or stay out late to wash the used strips - in a quiet moment when no-one's around to see. Hanging them up to dry in the sun would be too public a display of an issue that's taboo here. So the girls find a dark corner inside to dry their rags.
And then the answer that I somehow found saddest of all: "Do your mothers help you?"
Their heads shake again: "No," says Benku's friend. "My mother asked my aunt to explain everything to me when I got my first period."
Another girl was given an old chitenge and a lesson in what to do by a neighbour. A third was sent to her grandmother's for a week.
This monthly struggle has been the same for generations. But unlike their mothers, aunts and grandmothers these young women have a champion, who's determined to tackle the problem.
Tailor and pads
Image captio
Trinitas is a tall, vivacious 31-year-old researcher at Blantyre's College of Medicine. When six boys but only two girls turned up for a focus group she was running at this school, she asked the teacher where they all were and was told they'd excused themselves that week because they were menstruating.
And that's a whole other tragic side to this issue: girls often don't leave the house while they're bleeding. "So how many days of school are you missing every month?" I ask the group.
"Five, five, six, four, five," they tell me.
Trinitas remembers this from her own schooldays and is angry that another generation of girls is suffering. She's the daughter of a single mother and studied at a basic government school. Yet she beat the odds and made it to university - thanks, she says, to her mother's insistence on the value of education.
With that in mind Trinitas bought an old treadle sewing machine and started making reusable sanitary pads from fabrics available locally. She's been doing market research at the school and the girls have all tried out her pads.
The feedback is resoundingly positive. "They're so easy to wash!" says one girl. "The top layer is lovely and fleecy so they're comfortable," says another.
Trinitas's challenge is to get capital investment in this chronically poor country - enough to scale up production and bring down the price so it's low enough for the average Malawian.
The girls are clearly excited by the new freedom this product could afford them. "The wings and the poppers mean I can move around as usual," chirps one. "We can do skipping rope and everything."
And with that I'm reminded that these schoolgirls deserve better than a week of discomfort and humiliation every single month.

More from the Magazine

Amy Peake in her kitchen
Two years ago, when Amy Peake was leafing through a magazine she saw an image that shocked her. It showed thousands of refugees queuing for food in a bombed-out street in Damascus. In the foreground stood a woman, and for a split second she thought, "What if I was her? What if my children were there? And what if I got my period?"
Then her husband showed her a BBC News Magazine story about an Indian man who had invented a machine to produce cheap and hygienic sanitary pads after realising his wife, and millions of other Indian women, used rags. He didn't want to sell the pads, he wanted women to make and sell their own.
Peake immediately thought: "That machine should be in the refugee camps - and if it isn't, perhaps I should take it there." So that's exactly what she's done.

An unusual story concerning a family living in Woodlands New Town, has taken over Singaporean social media after a photo was posted by the man’s uncle and it shows a male and a female in bed, in the middle of intercourse, while members of their family watch on.

The uncle revealed that it was a family tradition that has been passed down through generations. His words: “While most people may consider it odd, for our family there is nothing more proud than celebrating a son, brother or nephew, having sex for the first time.

We see it as the last step on the long journey to adulthood, and it’s also a special chance to witness the moment that a new life is formed. I also had my family present to witness my first intercourse. I felt less nervous having my family there to accompany me, and also give me guidance on how to proceed.

At first I had trouble entering my girlfriend, but my mother suggested I take things more slowly and relax, and I was able to eventually slip it in. I snapped this photo right at the moment before he came, and it was truly a beautiful scene.” The photo also shows the man’s mother and sister on the edge of the bed to provide tips and encouragement

Some suspected hired assassins have killed Michael Ogunnusi, the owner of the Allonze Hotel on Ishawo Road, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects, who entered the hotel on a motorcycle, pretended that they were lodgers.
The security guard who opened the gate was said to have been tied up by the armed men.
They were said to have made straight for the victim’s room in the hotel and shot him dead.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the deceased was killed for allegedly dating the wife of the gunmen’s leader.

It was learnt that the suspects took Ogunnusi’s phone before fleeing the hotel.
A source said the men were four in number and brought a car which was parked outside.
He said, “While one was in the car, three went in on a motorcycle, pretending to be customers; they got separate rooms to stay. However, no sooner than they got their keys that they went to the man’s room. One knocked at his door as if he was one of the hotel workers. As he opened the door, they opened gunfire on him.”
However, a police source, who said the incident happened around 11pm on Wednesday, explained that the suspects first tied up the gateman.
He said, “There were four of them and they spoke Ijaw language. They entered into the hotel on a motorcycle. They deceived the gateman by telling him they wanted to book a room. But immediately he opened the gate, they beat and tied him up.
“It is possible they were operating based on information from an insider because immediately they entered, they went into the man’s room in the hotel.  He begged them not to kill him. He said he was ready to offer them anything, but they shot him dead. They left with his phone.”
A source said the victim was killed for dating a woman that was not his wife.
The source said, “He was dating a woman that was the wife of the suspects’ leader. On the night that he was killed, he was with the woman. ”
The source said the woman had already been arrested by the police.
It was learnt that policemen from the Owutu Police Division removed the corpse and took it to a mortuary.
The victim’s wife, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunnusi, did not deny the allegation that the victim was caught with a woman.
She said, “I am his wife and we have five children together. The hotel is closed. I don’t know (if he was killed over a woman). The police have not released his corpse.”
