Afenifere Leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti Quits Over Members’ ‘Disloyalty’

PAN-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti yesterday parted ways with the group, claiming that its founding fathers’ goals “are being gradually eroded”.
In a letter signed by him, Fasoranti said he could no longer reconcile himself with how the group is drifting.
Fasoranti, who became the group’s leader after the death of Chief Abraham Adesanya, said he has resigned forthwith.
The socio-cultural group was formidable in the past until its polarisation led to the emergence of the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), under Mr Wale Oshun.

In the letter addressed to the group’s Secretary-General, Chief Seinde Arogbofa and other leaders, including Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Sir Olanihun Ajayi, Chief Olu Falae, Chief Supo Sonibare and state chairmen, Fasoranti alleged that some members were not loyal.
The letter reads: “Our organisation, Afenifere, was formed in 1951 under the leadership of our leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
“The organisation was formed to serve as an umbrella to be used to actualise the dream of a great nation and the Yoruba.
“Over the years, the Yoruba have tried to focus on a common goal. Chief Awolowo tried to ensure the oneness of our people with a lot of efforts, notwithstanding challenges he faced in the process. Unfortunately, he passed on without actualising this dream.
“I joined Afenifere from inception with the following leaders; Pa Onasanya, Alhaji Ganiyu Daodu, Pa Abraham Adesanya, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Sir Olanihun Ajayi, Chief Sam Sonibare, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Wunmi Adegbonmire and others.
“The mantle of leadership fell on the late Pa Adekunle Ajasin , the late Pa Adesanya and me. As events unfolded in the past years, the focus and goals of the founding fathers were gradually eroded.
“This made it a Herculean task for members to work in unity. Several efforts were made to ensure actualisation of our goals, but it appeared we have not succeeded. This is basically due to reasons best known to members.
“Let me state clearly that the issue of adoption of the National Conference report had always been the focus and goal of our people in Afenifere even long before the National Conference  was set up.
‘’The support of a leader, who promised to implement this report was not a mistake and inevitable despite all public insinuations.
“Considering my age, efforts and selfless dedication to my country, my state (Ondo), my parties, my past leaders and members in Afenifere in Nigeria and the Diaspora, I inform you all that I have decided to step aside as leader of Afenifere.”

Buhari, Tinubu, governors bid Borgu emir farewell
Borgu Emirate in Niger State was in a mourning yesterday as the remains of its Emir, Alhaji Haliru Dantoro Kitoro III (Mai Borgu), were laid to rest.
President Muhammadu Buhari, National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors and other dignitaries witnessed the funeral.
Some of the late emir’s subjects, well-wishers and mourners broke down in tears
The late emir, a former minister and ex-senator, died on Friday in a German hospital. He was 77.

His remains were brought in by an Arik Air plane marked 5N-JEA, which landed at 11.00am at New Bussa Airport in Niger State.
The body was received by Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and his Kebbi counterpart, Atiku Bagudu.
After about 20-minute formalities at the airport, the body was brought out of the plane in a brown mahogany casket.
While some in the crowd pushed forward to touch the casket, some of them broke down in tears on sighting it.
Those crying were shouting: “See my Sarki, see my Sarki”.
Many others who gathered at the Emir’s Palace wept when the body arrived in a Nigeria Air Force  hearse marked AF 221 BO1 around11:45 a.m.
Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun and Minister-designate Alhaji Lai Mohammed attended the ceremony.
Also there was Major Hamza El-Mustapha, the former chief security officer to the late Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha.
Some of those who attended the funeral included the Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers and Emir of Bida, Yahaya Abubakar, who led other traditional rulers.
Most churches cut short their services because of the emir’s burial.
Markets and shops were also closed. Security was tight.
Buhari and Tinubu arrived at the late Emir’s palace at 2:12pm.
The President did not speak to reporters.
Tinubu, who was turbaned Jagaban Borgu by the late emir in 2006, spoke with reporters.
Clad in cream-colour agbada and brown cap and shoes to match, he told reporters: “He was a very close friend and compatriot. His death is a very personal loss to me. Particularly, it was very painful because when I saw him last Wednesday, he was looking radiant and ready to come back home.
“And this sudden death is a great loss to the country. He is a patriot and a committed democrat and a valued Nigerian and a true leader of his people, not just limited to this kingdom, but across Africa. He is a bridge-builder and a unifier.”
The prayer for the repose of his soul at the palace before burial was led by Chief Imam of New Bussa, Alhaji Ahmed Shehu.
Some of the late emirs’ subjects spoke about him.
Hajiya Halima Kudi said he was the emir of the people and accepted everyone into his kingdom, even strangers.
She said: “It was during his reign as Emir that many others people came to settle in New Bussa. He was friendly to us and addressed our plight whenever we had one. His death is very painful to us.”
Another resident Aminu Yusuf described the late emir as a good and honest man that sponsored many children in his kingdom and accepted everyone as his own.
He said: “He sponsored our children to school and formed skills acquisition centres for them to ensure that they have some skills to fall back to. Now that he is gone, what are we going to do? Who is going to continue these things? Will there be another emir like him? Our benefactor is gone.”
Alhaji Baba Kudu, another resident, said the late Eemir was simple and close to the people and has a listening ear.
“No one goes into his palace without him listening to their plight and he tries his best to address it. It does not matter if you are an indigene or not; he listens to all. A very simple man with a heart of gold. He was the backbone of this kingdom. We will miss him a lot. I cannot say much, I just feel sad.”
Another female subject, who did not want her name mentioned, said: “He is a man that has no problem with the people and government. He cares for us. He had open arms and heart, ready to welcome and help his people.
“Although I am a stranger here, I could see the way he treated strangers and I was encouraged. His death is very painful and sudden. We never expected that such calamity will fall on us.”

Pathetic Story Of A Paralysed Nigerian Mother With Her Four Blind Children

The family of Christopher Okafor Onanwa in Umuoba Akabor village, Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State have been in sorrow for the past forty years. Four out of the seven children born in the family have been blind from their childhood.

To make matters worse, the mother of the blind children, Mercy Okafor, is now paralysed, following complications that arose after she had an injection.

Several years ago when Mercy got married to her heartthrob, Christopher, hopes were high on how they would live happily thereafter and raise kids that would in turn take care of them in their old age.
The arrival of the first child, Henry, a boy brought enormous joy to the family but trouble began soon after the birth of the second child, Chidiebere, a girl, who had what seemed then like a slight sight challenge and family attributed it to measles which was rampant at the time.

Somebody advised that she should be taken to the eye hospital in Kano. Frantically, the family ran to that place for solution. But after all efforts, she went totally blind. It was the same story for the 3rd born, Uchenna and two others Nkechinyere and Kaodilichukwu.
“Greater part of my motherhood has been spent on taking care of the blind children,” their mother laments.
As Mrs. Okafor told Sunday Sun, prior to the problem that afflicted her children, no member of their family was born blind or had ever gone blind. This fact left her wondering what could have caused the problem for her children. She is now a widow having lost her husband in 2001.

Her voice quivering as she struggled to stop herself from crying. She said:
“I had seven children, namely, Henry, Chidiebere, Uchenna, Ekenedilichukwu, Nkechi, Ifeanyi and Kaodilichukwu. While Henry, Ekene and Ifeanyi are free, the other four are completely blind and we have suffered terribly for the past 40 years.
“While I was healthy, I was the one running from pillar to post seeking for help on how to train and take care of the children. But I started having my own health challenge after some years until I was finally demobilised in 2012. Since then, I’ve been permanently confined to the wheelchair and the bed where I eat, pass urine and go to toilet.

“I was given an injection in a hospital which I suspect had either expired or had serious reactions on my system leading to paralysis of my two legs. I was at Amaku General Hospital, Awka for two weeks before my transfer to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, where I stayed for seven months, without recovering the use of my legs. I suffered from bed sore with serious wounds and the hospital fixed a urine bag and catheter on my system which I’ve carried since then. We tried all we could for the blind children.”
In the quest to rehabilitate the children, Mercy said the children were taken to Oji River, Enugu State, through the assistance of public-spirited individuals, where they were taught how to read and write. The family struggled to see two of them pass out from secondary school while the other two dropped out.

“The last one, Kaodilichukwu was in school when I broke down in sickness and that has been where we are since then. My daughter, Ekene is the only eye in the family now. She is the one who takes care of the five of us at home while her own future has been mortgaged because of our condition,” she further lamented.
The only sighted lady in the family, Ekene Okafor in a brief chat with Sunday Sun corroborated her mom’s earlier assertion that the problem of her brother and three sisters has put her in complete servitude.

“Taking care of four blind people and a bedridden mother is not easy. I used to be a petty trader but when my mother broke down, I had to close the shop. The first son of my family was involved in a ghastly road accident that nearly crippled him and in the process of treatment he lost all his fortune too. Sometimes I ask God questions but I know that our Redeemer lives,” she said.

Adding their voice on the need for public spirited individuals and corporate bodies to assist the family in their predicament, the immediate past President General of Mbaukwu Town Union, Chief Omife. I. Omife and Chairman, Old Akabor Village Union, Sir Nwankwo Samuel told Sunday Sun that the problem of the Okafor family has been a long standing one that some grown up youths today in the village met the situation when they were born.

They noted that the family members are good people who don’t indulge in anything evil and never had issues with their neighbours or the community. They also disclosed that as community leaders, they have tried at their own level to assist the family by scouting for helpers on their behalf but the efforts can never be enough.

Those touched by the plight of the family and are moved to lend a helping hand can reach the family through Ekene Okafor on 07032150785 and or make monetary donation through the account of Jacintha Okafor (UBA account number 2077200008).

Welsh stag party reveller woke up with Rayban sunglasses tattooed on his face
The party-goer looked in the mirror after a night out and thought his friends had drawn around his eyes with marker pen. But when he tried to wash the markings off, he realised it was a permanent tattoo, which included the word 'Rayban' etched into his skin. The man in his fifties, from Swansea, South Wales, has since spent two years getting the sunglasses tattoo lasered off of his face.

A stag reveller woke up from a boozy night out with more than just a hangover to worry about.
After rubbing the sleep from his eyes the party-goer was stunned to look in the mirror and discover he had a pair of glasses tattooed on his face.

The man, who has not been named, at first hoped it was just marker pens that pals had drawn on him but after furious washing the reality soon dawned on him.
With blue lines around his eyes and the side of his head, the life-size tattoo even had the word "Rayban" crudely etched into his skin.
And now the man in his fifties has spent TWO YEARS getting the shades tattoo lasered off his face.

Sugar Is Definitely Toxic, a New Study Says

$

Fat was the food villain these past few decades but sugar is quickly muscling in to take its place. As rates of sugar-related disorders such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease climb, many experts believe that when Americans rid themselves of fat, they simply replaced it with sugar in all its forms.
But proving that the rise of the chronic diseases was actually linked to higher sugar consumption is a challenge. Dr. Robert Lustig, from the department of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, who has made a name for himself publishing books and research addressing the question of sugar’s effects on the body, wanted clearer answers. Now, in a paper published Tuesday, he and his colleagues believe they have come up with the definitive evidence that sugar, as Lustig says, “is toxic.”

In most lab studies, the doses of sugar that scientists test are quite high; they want to see what the effect is quickly and, depending on the research, they may not have time to wait to study the more gradual effects that might emerge. And in studies where people reduce the amount of sugar they eat, for instance, those people end up eating fewer calories overall, so it’s difficult to know whether any changes are due to the removal of sugar or to the drop in calories.
Lustig and his colleagues think they’ve produced the “hard and fast data that sugar is toxic irrespective of its calories and irrespective of weight.”
Lustig’s confidence comes from the unique sturdy described in Obesity, of 43 Hispanic or African-American children aged eight to 18 years old. He collected detailed food questionnaires from each of the adolescents to get an idea of the average amount of calories they ate per day, then designed a special menu for each of them for nine days that matched the total numbers of calories they would normally eat. The only difference in the nine-day diet was that most of the sugar the children ate was replaced by starch — the overall number of calories remained the same. The children weighed themselves daily, and if they were losing weight, they were told to eat more of the provided food in order to keep their weight the same throughout the study.
“Everything got better,” says Lustig. Some of the children went from being insulin resistant, a precursor state to developing diabetes, in which the body’s insulin levels can no longer keep up with the pace of breaking down sugar that’s coming in from the diet, to insulin sensitivity
“We took chicken teriyaki out, and put turkey hot dogs in. We took sweetened yogurt out, and put baked potato chips in. We took pastries out and put bagels in,” says Lustig. “So there was no change in [the children’s] weight and no change in calories.”
After nine days of having their total dietary sugar reduced to 10% of their daily calories, however, they showed improvements in all of these measures. Overall, their fasting blood sugar levels dropped by 53%, along with the amount of insulin their bodies produced since insulin is normally needed to break down carbohydrates and sugars. Their triglyceride and LDL levels also declined and, most importantly, they showed less fat in their liver.
Because some of the children lost weight, to convince themselves that the effects weren’t due to the small amount of weight that some of the children lost, Lustig and his team compared those who lost weight to those who didn’t during the study, and found similar improvements in both groups.
“Up until now, there have been a lot of correlation studies linking sugar and metabolic syndrome,” says Lustig. “This is causation.”
The diet he provided the children isn’t considered ideal from a health perspective — starches are still a considerable source of calories and can contribute to weight gain. But Lustig relied on the starches to prove a point in a scientific study — that the effect sugar has on the body goes beyond anything connected to its calories and to weight. “I’m not suggesting in any way, shape or form that we gave them healthy food,” he says. “We gave them crappy food, shitty food, processed food — and they still got better. Imagine how much even better they would have gotten if we didn’t substitute and took the sugar out. Then they would have gotten even better yet. That’s the point.”
Not everyone is convinced that the results definitely prove sugar, and not weight loss, is the culprit, however. Susan Roberts, professor of Nutrition, USDA Nutrition Center at Tufts University notes that because some of the children lost weight, it’s still possible that shedding the pounds helped their metabolic measures to improve. She also points out that the children self-reported their initial diet, which can often be inaccurate. “We know that a healthy diet and weight loss cause good metabolic changes, and although this study tries to attribute its effects to low fructose, in fact it is impossible to do that because of the study design.”
Some experts are concerned for other reasons. They’re worried that the findings may shift attention away from what they consider to be the more fundamental issue — that overall, we’re eating too much. “Too much calorie intake is still the biggest problem,” says Dr. Mark Corkins, professor of pediatrics at University of Tennessee Health Science Center and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics committee on nutrition. He notes that the study involved children who were obese already and consuming too many calories. “It’s an important study, and the facts coming out of it are very important. It means we need to look at sugars, and at the type of sugars and sugar intake. But I worry that people are going to hang everything on this when we still need to reduce consumption.”
Lustig hopes that won’t happen as more data emerges that details how sugar is altering the body in unhealthy ways outside of its caloric contribution. That wasn’t the subject of the current paper, but he promises follow up studies based on this work that will address that. This study does hint however, at what might be happening. While there has been a lot of attention on the presence of belly fat and its connection to metabolic syndrome, the fact that the children saw improvements in the amount of fat in their liver suggests that might be an important way that sugar is contributing to chronic disease. Obese children and those with diabetes often suffer from fatty liver, a condition normally associated with alcohol abuse but increasingly common among non-drinkers who gain excessive amounts of weight.
This new view of sugar could change the advice that doctors and government health officials give about eating the sweet stuff. Lustig’s hope is that the information is considered as the U.S. Department of Agriculture finalizes its latest Dietary Guidelines, expected by the end of the year, which delineate recommendations for what, and how much of different types of foods and nutrients Americans should eat.

Manager Hired Us To Rob His Boss Of N40m’

Two suspected armed robbers, arrested by detectives attached to the Lagos State Police Command, have claimed that the manager of a company contracted them to rob his boss of N40 million at Oshodi area of Lagos. The suspects, Saheed Ogunseye (32) and Joshua Adetola (26), said the manager, now at large, hired them to rob his boss, after a failed initial attempt.

They added that the manager had earlier hired a gang to rob his female boss, but when it failed, he started looking for another gang and finally found and hired them. The suspects explained that they attacked the woman’s shop located at Oshodi Market on a day she was planning to travel to the United States. The men confessed that the robbery and subsequent location of the money inside her car boot was given to them by the victim’s manager.

Ogunseye said: “Before we were called to come and carry out the operation, we learnt that the manager had earlier contracted a gang to carry out a similar operation, but the gang failed. He later called my partner, Adetola, who invited me. The two of us went to rob her at her shop on the agreed day. I did not go with a gun.

I collected the money using charms. “When I was contacted for the operation, the manager gave me a gun, but I told him that I did not need a gun. I do not use guns. I have a charm which I believe in. I controlled the woman and collected the money from her with the charm.”

Recalling how they robbed the woman, Ogunseye said when they got to her shop, she was about to leave. Ogunseye approached and commanded her to handover the money to him. Immediately she obliged. He added: “She opened the boot of her vehicle and handed over the money.

The money was neatly packed inside a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag. I escaped with the money. Unfortunately Adetola was nabbed by some of the traders in the market.” Stating his own side of the story, Adetola said: “When the manager brought the deal to me, I knew I could not carry out the operation alone.

I contacted Ogunseye to assist me with his charm. I knew he had charm. I regretted my action. God should forgive and have mercy on me. I do not want to die as a sinner.” The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said Ogunseye used part of his share of the money to buy a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The police chief disclosed that the manager took the lion’s share of the money. He said: “The manager of the businesswoman, who is at large, would soon be arrested by the police. The two suspects would soon be charged to court.”

Assistant Registrar at the University of Zimbabwe Ngaatendwe Takawira is in hot water for procuring a wrong size academic cap for President Robert Mugabe

What might be considered an administrative peccadillo by some has landed a University of Zimbabwe (UZ) official in hot water following reports that Assistant Registrar, Ngaatendwe Takawira has been suspended for procuring a wrong size academic cap for President Robert Mugabe.

According to her suspension letter, Takawira is reported to have obtained a mortar board too small for the 92-year-old leader, who is the UZ Chancellor.
Following the seemingly frivolous error, Takawira was suspended pending further disciplinary proceedings. According to her suspension letter, her mistake caused an “embarrassing situation for the chancellor and the vice-chancellor,” The Guardian reported.
In her legal papers, Takawira said the cap “fit the chancellor perfectly well”.
Takawira added that she was not entirely to blame for the mishap as the President’s officials were not cooperative during the process: “The cap sizes were obtained from the chancellor’s office and also, when he was asked to fit the caps, his office indicated that he was busy,” she reportedly said.

How Saraki Bowed To APC - Taiwo Amodu

His emergence as Senate President had unnerved certain leaders of the party, who perceived his insistence to seek the exalted office as the height of obduracy and his ultimate victory, a threat to their grip on the ruling party.
The party leadership had endorsed the duo of Senator Ahmed Lawan and George Akume as Senate President and deputy senate president, respectively, but the Like Minds Senators in the Red Chamber who
craved for autonomy for National Assembly ensured victory for Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu.
While Saraki and his Like Minds Senators relished their victory, the aggrieved party leaders recoiled into their shells, smarting for showdown. To those calling for ceasefire, for the sake of amity in the progressive camp, the aggrieved leaders squealed over the election of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as deputy senate president, which they argued cast a slur on the monumental feat achieved by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the last general elections. To rub salt into APC’s injury, the Peoples Democratic Party, went to town proclaiming that the election of Senator Ekweremadu showed it political astuteness, taunting the ruling party as inexperience.

Acting national chairman of the erstwhile ruling party, Uche Secondus let the cat out of the bag on the power game and intrigues that led to Senator Ekweremadu’s victory as he had told chieftains of the party at its 57th National Executive Committee meeting that the latter as Deputy Senate President remained a major achievements of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) National Working Committee, (NWC).
Immediately I took over as the Ag. National Chairman, the NWC inaugurated the Ike Ekweremadu-led Post-Election Review Committee to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the problems of the Party with a view to making recommendations for moving the Party forward.
In our drive to revive the Party after the elections, the National Secretariat in conjunction with the PDP Caucus at the National Assembly organized a Retreat in Port Harcourt for our legislators.
It was a forum, which was used to train and mobilize our legislators to excel in our new role as the leading opposition Party. Happily, that initiative became a huge success. Today the PDP as an opposition Party has become the driving force in the National Assembly and our own Senator Ike Ekweremadu is the Deputy Senate President, a feat unprecedented in the political history of Nigeria.’’

To the aggrieved camp, in the ruling party, no meaningful progress can be made by a president who had made a commitment to retrieve the nation from the abyss it has sunk without the cooperation of a progressive minded National Assembly leadership.
An indication that they were not ready to let go was the invitation extended to Senator Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal to answer a 13-count charge allegation on falsification of assets in 2003. Recall that before his appearance before the CCT, his wife Toyin Saraki had been a guest of the anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over some money laundering allegations.

Enters Ministerial screening
Ahead of the screening of ministerial nominees recently conducted, there were insinuations that the Senate President would use the exercise as a political bargain: delay, or frustrate the process, in order to compel President Buhari to ensure soft-landing for him over pending trial before the CCT.
But the Senate President swiftly dismissed the insinuation as unfounded and assured Nigerians that the Senate would conduct the exercise with fairness.
“The screening of ministerial nominees will be handled by me and my colleagues with all sense of responsibility and in adherence to the provision of the constitution. We will be fair to all and be guided by the interest of Nigeria. The screening will be devoid of sentiment and it is not an opportunity for anybody to settle scores. We are equally eager for us to make a positive difference in our polity and Nigerians will be able to judge us whether we acted in their best interest or not.’’
To the admiration of Nigerians, the Senators conducted themselves maturely, considering the seriousness they brought to bear on the exercise . The Senate President also left no one in doubt about his mastery of parliamentary skills and intrigues, considering his moderating role in ensuring the confirmation of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi as ministerial nominee without supplanting the debates of the issues involved.
What almost stalled the confirmation of the former Rivers State governor was a petition brought before the Senate by Senator George Sekibo. The petition signed by one, Livingstone Wechie on behalf of the Integrity Group requested the Senate to reject the nomination of Rotimi Ameachi as a Minister on the grounds of alleged corruption, criminal breach of trust, unlawful enrichment and conversion of over N70 billion Rivers Peoples Money when he served as Executive Governor of the State between 2007 and 2015.

According to the group, details of the N70billion allegedly stolen by Ameachi as Executive Governor of the State, had already been forwarded to EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) for the needed investigation and prosecution .
The Integrity Group further argued that its stance against the former Rivers state governor was not premised on witch-hunt or mischief. “ We shall not relent and we will not stop at nothing to support the Nigerian Senate and the National Assembly in the fight against corruption, particularly in ensuring that anyone no matter how highly placed, is brought to justice. “Our evidence and facts against Ameachi on afore stated allegations remain incontrovertible,” they further submitted.

The petition was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions and its report was presented by its chairman , Senator Sam Anyanwu last Thursday before Amaechi’s confirmation.
Despite intensive lobby and entreaties by the leadership of the Senate, the PDP senators led by former Akwa-Ibom governor and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio were determined to frustrate the confirmation of the former Rivers state governor, as they insisted that the recommendation of the Senator Anyanwu Committee that Rotimi Amaechi nomination be stepped down be adopted.

The recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions read in part: “Since the ministerial nominee had gone to the Court of Appeal to challenge the content of the petition and the White Paper of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, the Senate is unable to recommend consideration of his confirmation.
“That the Senate do consider and adopt the recommendation as proposed by the committee.’’
Daily Sun checks revealed that Senator Saraki was the rallying force for the APC senators during the ministerial screening exercise, as it was later confirmed by the national publicity secretary of the party, Lai Mohammed who further noted in a press statement that the APC senators for the first time spoke with one voice after the Senate leadership tussle.

Also speaking in similar vein, a member of the party national working committee who craved for anonymity told Daily Sun that the recent screening of ministerial nominees afforded the embattled Senate president, an opportunity to assure the party leadership of his commitment to ensure an harmonious relationship with the executive arm of government.
‘’The Senate President has shown that he is a loyal party man who enjoys the respect of his colleagues across party line and that he can be relied upon to rally the Senate behind party positions. Also, he has proved that there is nothing the President wants from the Senate that he cannot help him to get. It is now incumbent on the Senate to reciprocate this new gesture and help to consolidate new cooperation between executive and legislature.

‘’He should open a new window of peaceful relationship between the
NASS Leadership and the Presidency and we are sure the gesture will be imbibed by other powerful forces in the APC who are aggrieved by the manner the leadership emerged. This is however not possible except the external influences being brought on the Saraki case cease. The President should find political solution to the issue as many believe everything about the case smacks of politics. The President should help to create conducive atmosphere for unity to thrive in APC, National Assembly and in the country.’’

Sanusi's Daughter Writes Linda Ikeji About Her Commenters

Hi Linda, I hope you're well. I saw your blog post about my picture and although I am flattered that you think I'm stunning, I find the comments rather offensive. The comments could be classified under two categories: either made by perverts or made by people who used the opportunity to disregard my father's marital affairs. I am aware that you cannot control your viewer's opinions, but you violated My right of privacy by putting up pictures of me on your blog, when you don't even know me personally.

There is more to a person than meets the eye. By putting up my pictures and describing me as "pretty" and "stunning", you are judging me based on my physical appearances. Truth is, this is exactly what is wrong with the world. We reduce people and describe them using shallow and physical adjectives. For the commenter who insisted that I was only pretty with make up on, we live in a world full of Nigerians who spend hundreds, and even thousands on Brazilian and Indian wigs, bleaching creams and fake nails. And you are looking down on me because I am wearing make up?

And, in case you do speak to your commenters, please tell them that I am not married for "royal ties". And yes, I am older than my father's last wife, but why should that be anybody 's business? To the ignorant commenter who shamed my father for marrying a young wife: My father is a Muslim and his marriage is legal before Islamic Law (look up Prophet Muhammad S.A.W 's marriage to Nana Aisha). If The Almighty God permits his marriage, who are you to condemn it? Why should he please you, the creation, when he can please The Creator?

Going forward, I will appreciate it if you would be as kind as to remove my pictures from your blog so as to stop similarly insulting comments.

But do feel free to post this email on your blog because a lot of ignorant people that read your blog need an educated response. "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction".

Skin tags are a fact of life for some people more than others. There are many solutions on the market, and some of them are pretty invasive. You can go to a professional and have them removed by laser, but that’s expensive and time-consuming. There is a better way, and you can do it at home!

One of the greatest, home-friendly remedies to the problem of skin tags is probably in your kitchen right now. This stuff is usually something you would put on your salad, but after you watch this video, you’ll be more inclined to wear it than eat it. Watch and learn!
