Payment Of Tithe Not Compulsory, No Curse Attached- Pastor Sam Adeyemi
Pastor of Daystar Church and motivational speaker, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, has given his views on payment of tithe by Christians.
According to the senior pastor, it is not compulsory to pay tithe.

The pastor said this while addressing his congregation yesterday, where he also pointed out that tithe was paid in the old Testament as a law with curses attached to failure to pay.
He said Christian should not be pressured or forced to pay tithe, adding that not paying tithe does not attract a curse for a Christian anymore.
He said,

“Since we are under a new covenant, giving is a choice. Everyone should decide the percentage they want to pay with the knowledge that you will be blessed based on how you give.”

Ajimobi Deserves A Third Term ― Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji has said that the ‘unprecedented’ achievements of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi, qualifies him for another term in office were it not for constitutional impediment that restricts governors to two terms in office.

Olubadan made this statement on Thursday at a meeting convened by Ajimobi was convened by Ajimobi to meet with close traditional rulers across the state, with a view to engaging their support for peace and security in the state, briefing the monarchs on the achievements of his administration and the plans to transform the state for the next 25 years

The meeting held at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, was also to mandate them to ensure peace in their domains during and after the local government election that has been fixed for May 12, this year.

“I thank the governor because we are seeing all the work he has done and we are also praying for him that he won’t face impossibilities. By the grace of God, nothing shall be impossible for you.

“Thank you, governor. God will continue to help you. This is your second term, this is your seventh year. `

`Yoruba don’t appreciate themselves but to abuse and criticize but when someone has done well, we must say it. I am talking about what I have seen so far. In view of this, I would have loved him to go for another term if not that the constitution does not allow it.

“The governor has performed very well. He has recorded unprecedented achievements worthy of commendation. This is the only way to spur him into greater performance for the benefit of the whole state.”.

“The Alaafin and I once sat together and appreciated the governor for the good things he has done. God will not make people insult you for it. You won’t finish it and people will say what you have done is not good because we are saying what we are seeing.

“Some people, when some people are doing well, instead of them to greet him congratulations on the good thing he has done, they won’t greet him. All the things you have will not be destroyed. Your children shall be successful. Your wife will be successful because you have done well. Everything you have done as well will not go sour,” the Olubadan said.

Similarly, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, lauded the pace of road constructions and other ongoing projects across the state, notwithstanding the economic downturn in the country.

The two monarchs extolled the governor for what they called his outstanding performances dotting all the five zones of the state since his assumption of office about seven years ago.

Also, the Alaafin said that the governor should be commended for all he had achieved since the beginning of his administration in spite of the dwindling allocations from the Federation Account and paltry internally-generated revenue.

“We can only commend you for all you have been able to achieve in the last seven years. We are very impressed with your performance. At the appropriate time, we will comprehensively, sufficiently and adequately respond to your address.

“The only thing you are not telling us is where you have been getting the money to do all the projects. I have had to engage you in a private discussion on this recently to ask how you source the money you have been using to execute the projects since you are not printing money.

“But, the governor has allayed my fears. He explained to me that most of the projects were contractor-financed and that the money would be paid back under very convenient terms. He has assured me that he would not plunge the state into huge debts,” the Alaafin said.

Other traditional rulers who also spoke at the occasion included the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Rafiu Adekunle; Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola; Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Popoola and the representative of Soun of Ogbomoso, the Aare Ago of Ogbomosoland, Chief Sobalaje Otolorin.

They all expressed appreciation to the governor for the initiative which they described as an eye opener on the achievements so far recorded by the Ajimobi-led administration as well as his future plans for the state.

Speaking earlier, Ajimobi said that the meeting was borne out of the need for him to carry the royal fathers along about the programmes and policies of his administration, giving their position as the custodian of culture and tradition and the closest to the people.

The governor said his administration had succeeded in restoring peace and security which had eluded the state prior to his administration through the establishment of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘’Operation Burst.’’

In a similar vein, he said that the administration also established a Security Trust Fund through which necessary equipment were regularly procured for the security outfits.

He said: “I have called this meeting to ensure that there is constant dialogue with you, our royal fathers and to intimate you with our developmental plans and goals. It is also to discuss our efforts so far at repositioning the state and to see what our state will be like in the next 25 years.

“I am happy to announce to you that Oyo State has been described as one of the safest states in Nigeria. We will therefore not want anything that will disrupt the pervading peace which we have been enjoying all these years.

“This is why I am appealing to our royal fathers to help us talk to your subjects on the need to maintain peace, especially as elections into our local governments approach. We should realize that it is only in the atmosphere of peace that there can be development.’’

He also reeled out his administration’s achievements in the areas of road construction, the establishment of a technical university which he described as the first of its kind in Nigeria, infrastructure, education, health and agriculture.

Ajimobi also said part of his reasons for the meeting was to appeal to the royal fathers to enlighten their subjects on the need to eschew thuggery, brigandage and violence before, during and after the local government scheduled for May 12.

Taiwo Adeleke has revealed how his twin brother, Kehinde Adeleke, a Bet9ja agent who just r‎eturned from Europe was killed allegedly by a club owner.
‎Insideoyo.com yesterday reported that the state government shut down the bar indefinitely over the unfortunate incident ‎which led to the killing of Taiwo who just clocked 30 in January.
The Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion and Public Private Partnerships, Mr. Yinka Fatoki said that the management of the Trans Wonderland Nigeria Plc communicated the decision to close the bar to the government on Tuesday, explaining that a three months quit notice had earlier been issued to the company effective January 12, 2018 over the allegation of the public sale and use of illicit drugs in the park by patrons of Pete’s Bar & Lounge.

Trans Amusement Park, now Trans Wonderland, was practically dead until Lyrics Night Club, the first in Ibadan, was said to have used the same facility between 1999 and 2011‎ successfully, attracting tourists to the state before Pete’s Bar & Lounge came on board.
The owner of the club, one ‘Fatherluski’ was said to have been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
Writing on his facebook account, Adeleke Taiwo Ebony‎, narrated how the owner of Pete’s Bar & Lounge in Trans Wonderland, Bodija, Ibadan, one ‘Fatherluski’ allegedly collected a rifle from one of the men of the Oyo State Security task force codenamed ‘Operation Burst’.
Below is the unedited ‎account of the event as copied from Taiwo’s account.
‎”When will the federal government and the house make laws that will restrict the Military and uniform men from carrying ammunition at civil gatherings. When will our law enforcement agencies stop killing those they are meant to protect?
“On Monday 26th of February at exactly 6:45pm, myself( Adeleke Taiwo) Kehinde and some of our friends got to trans to chill after the day’s work. That is how we have been going there since 2016 without causing any trouble in the vicinity. Before now, we have always been seeing men if the operation Burst with Seyi (Fathers Luski) the owner of the Bar. They drink, chat and smoke together on a daily basis. He always use them as a tool of oppression over anyone who question him. At exactly 7:20pm, Kehinde Adeleke, a young, intelligent and friendly young man who just clocked 30 years last month was shot with a gun of one of the men of the operation Burst constituted by the Abiola Ajimobi led government in Oyo state at the Trans Amusement Park around Agbowo.
“It was gathered that, Kehinde who was killed by Father Luski and men of the operation burst sent his immediate younger brother Damola an errand to get him food. On Damola’s return, some guys were arguing with him for parking space and all of a sudden the guy slapped Damola Adeleke. Someone went to call Kehinde Adeleke that his younger brother Damola is being beaten up by some guys. On getting there, Kehinde was trying to inquire what transpired between the duo.
“However, during the conversation, Seyi( Father Luski) the owner of the bar appeared with some men of the Operation Burst who even without any question from those involved in an argument asked father Luski what was wrong then father Luski pointed to Damola Adeleke as the trouble maker. Immediately he said that, one of the men of the operation Burst smashed a big stick on Damola’s head who fainted immediately. People rushed to get water and pour it on him. As that was going on, Kehinde was telling Father Luski that he has not done well that he supposed to settle this and not put blame on one person. The argument went on for almost 5minutes before Father Luski became angry and collected riffle hanged on the shoulder from one of his friends (Men of the Operation Burst) then shot Kehinde in the neck which I was there with the owner of the Bar (seyi AKA father luski ), I was the one who hold and dragged the owner of the bar (seyi) in to my car that he had killed my immediately twin brother which he could not escaped. When people heard the gun shot, everywhere was scattered . The operation burst now started spraying gun shots around the premises.
“The remaining men of the operation burst ran away but when they got to know that The second in command and the owner of the bar that shot kehinde Adeleke which is called Father Luski has been apprehended by Kehinde’s brothers and friends, the operation burst locked the Trans gate and prevented them from taking Kehinde to the hospital for over 30min.
“Tope was the one driving the car where Kehinde was kept. Some men of the operation burst pointed gun to his head that he should open the door for The apprehended culprit to escape.
“Immediately when we left there, we took Kehinde Adeleke to UCH, he was rejected, we immediately took him to Eleyele police Hospital at the police headquarters, the Doctors there said he was still alive but they don’t have necessary tools to carry out any surgery on him that we should take him to Molly Hospital at IDI APE. When we discovered that these hospitals are not attending to us, we called our friend and Brother, Babatunde Badmus who then help us took him to Molly Hospital from Eleyele. On getting to Molly hospital, we were told by the doctor who attended to us that they couldn’t feel any pulse again. Then we went to UCH to reaffirm that. On getting to UCH, we saw three patrol vans of operation burst fully loaded with men and ammunition. They blocked the normal entrance then we took the exit so that we can get to the emergency ward. While we were going to Molly hospital, two of our friends who could not follow the car we were carrying took bike and waited for us at the emergency gate of UCH. It was later realized that men of the operation burst arrested these two guys, tortured them and asked them to call us to come out that they want to arrest all of us.( Those guys were not handed over to the police for questioning but we’re brutally tortured overnight by the operation burst in their office around NTA IBADAN. They failed to arrest us because of our number and our peaceful resistance coordinated by Babatunde Badmus who helped us to drive him to all the hospitals. Immediately when we entered the emergency, the colonel in charge of the Operation Burst commanded his men to take positions as if they want to wage war against us. They started corking their guns and pointing it at us. Then Babatunde Badmus went to meet the leader of the team and have a discussion with him on why should his men bring ammunition to the hospital where civilians are being treated? But he had no tangible answer. At the end, we had some videos of the Operation Burst fully armed inside the hospital and how they were ready to kill more people. We all went there without any ammunition. We were only sad because our brother was killed yet, we were being victimized by the law enforcement agencies.
“We later took him to the Mortuary with some men of Sango Police station where his body was kept,” the post concluded.
Meanwhile, Taiwo, whose body has been deposited at Adeoyo Hospital morgue would be buried in Ibadan, his hometown, tonight after a post-mortem would have been conducted.
Tribune Online learnt that the security operative who had the gun whose bullet killed the deceased was a Warrant Officer who would be retiring sometime this year.
Though efforts to speak with the bar owner proved futile, as he was said to have been arrested by the police, a senior police officer who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune said he denied the allegation of killing the deceased.
He was however said to have been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan for investigation.
According to the senior police officer, “since there is an allegation against the bar owner, he is a suspect until the contrary has been proved. We are investigating the case.”
Also, when contacted, the Army official in charge of operations at the Operation Burst headquarters in Ibadan, Captain Alkali Alkaleri told the Tribune Online that he was not in the position to speak with journalists, as such an issue could only be addressed by the Commander of Operation Burst.
But the Commander could not be reached as he was recently posted to 2 Division of the Nigerian Army to replace the former Commander, Brigadier-General Abdulmumin Yusuf.
When contacted, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the case is a murder case.
Ajisebutu said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, had directed the Homicide section of the State CIID to commence a discreet investigation into the case.
“A suspect who is the owner of the bar has been arrested, and is currently helping us in our investigation,” the PPRO said.

West Yorkshire Police find cannabis farm after seeing snow-free roof
A huge cannabis haul worth an estimated £80,000 has been seized by West Yorkshire Police after they spotted a house with suspiciously no snow on the roof.

Officers stormed the property on a street near to Arctic Street in Keighley yesterday after catching a strong smell of cannabis outside. Police then noticed a lack of snow on the roof, which suggested a strong heat presence inside the property.

Upon entering the house, police found around 322 plants in all four bedrooms of the property and in the cellar. The heat from the lamps which helped to grow the plants was melting the ice and snow off the roof.

Tragedy has befallen the people of Umuocha Ohuba-Ubomiri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State as a palm wine tapper simply identified as Njoku, was on Thursday found dead on top a palm tree.

A villager, Iheanyi Enwerem, told Southern City News that the deceased had left his house early in the morning for his daily palm wine tapping business.

The villager, who was visibly shocked by the development, disclosed that as of the time Njoku left his house, there was no sign that he wouldn’t return alive.

“He left his house very early in the morning for his daily palm wine tapping business. He was strong and never showed any sign that he would die.

“When he did not return on time, his family members started making enquiries about his whereabouts. A case of a missing person was established in the village; a search party was declared,” Enwerem said.

According to the source, it was in the course of the search that Njoku was found dead on top of a palm tree in a bush.

Enwerem, who said that the corpse of the palm wine tapper had been deposited in a morgue while the case had been reported at the police station, disclosed that there was no cut on the body to indicate that he was killed.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, could not be reached for comment, but a police source confirmed the development.
